HBO's The Last of Us series has begun to round out its supporting cast, with Gabriel Luna joining the video game adaptation as Tommy.
In the acclaimed Naughty Dog games, Tommy is the younger brother of Joel, who plays a pivotal role in the events of the recent The Last of Us Part II. This take on the character is described as "a former soldier who hasn’t lost his sense of idealism and hope for a better world."
Luna played the villainous Rev-9 in Terminator: Dark Fate, and Robbie Reyes/Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. His other credits include Wicked City, Rosewood, True Detective, and Matador.
We found out back in January that Game of Thrones breakout Bella Ramsey (Lyanna Mormont) will play Ellie, while The Mandalorian star Pedro Pascal will take on the role of Joel.
The Last of Us is set 20 years after modern civilization has been destroyed and centers on the relationship between Joel, a smuggler in this new world, and Ellie, a teenager who may be key to a cure for a deadly pandemic. Joel, a hardened survivor, is hired to smuggle the 14-year-old girl out of an oppressive quarantine zone. What starts as a small job soon becomes a brutal, heartbreaking journey as they traverse the U.S. and depend on each other for survival.
Craig Mazin (Chernobyl) and the game's creator Neil Druckmann are writing and executive producing the show. The first season will adapt the events of the original game, but is also expected to include elements of the sequel. Druckmann recently confirmed that the series will take some liberties with the story.
