Did Watchmen inspire this scene from J.J. Abrams 'Fringe'?

Anything that happens, happens. Anything that, in happening, causes something else to happen, causes something else to happen. Anything that, in happening, causes itself to happen again, happens again. It doesn’t necessarily do it in chronological order, though.

Editorial Opinion

Yesterday I began a quest, a quest to delve deeper into the creative genius that is J.J. Abrams. If you have read my previous article you might put two and two together and come to the conclusion that I have a slight man crush: this is true. But who could not find themselves falling for a man who creates such great works of imagination, fantasy and science fiction. I for one cannot resist.
But I digress.
I began watching Fringe yesterday and in an unfortunate state of events, namely me being broke, I was forced to watch it online. Usually I would progress through a season at a much faster rate but at the current time I am up to Episode 10. But it is the episode that I just watched that has inspired me to write this article. For you see I am also a big fan of this years awesome 'Watchmen' (as well as the graphic novel) and in Episode 9 the opening scene reminded me of Alan Moore’s sublime comic book, and if you watch this clip you will see why.

Now I realise that this came out some time ago and was more than likely featured on this esteemed website but I had to post it. My new obsession has paid homage to one of my old favourites and for those who may not have seen the clip it is my opinion that you should and thus this article.
If anyone has posted this before I will gladly and humbly apologise but if no one has and this is the first time anyone has made this connection, though I doubt it, "you're welcome" :D

Sincerely,
Benjamin Boekelaar

Glad you started watching Fringe Boekelaar! Hope you're enjoying it!!

You'll see a BIG Star Trek connection later on but I'm not going to spoil anything for you!!

Fringe is Awesome and Phillip Broyles is the man!!

Only on Season 2, Episode 8 so far.. You don't really have long to go in order to catch up! They're longer than your average episodes though, an extra 6 minutes I think.

Interesting. I've always wanted to watch fringe, but have never had any time. It does look like a nod to watchmen, but I think I see a little kick-ass in there

@Betty - that's a HOT music video man! If you haven't seen the whole thing, look up Calabria late night version on YouTube. Bit beware, once you see it, you'll never get that sax tune out of your head.

the show is good...so many people had their own expectation on what they thought it was going to be...maybe another x-files or something. This show is sort of unique and like most new shows sometimes they might not start off like most want them to. This show definitly have legs to stand on.

Im a fan and have seen every episode... im sure most will like this show if they give it a shot.

Fringe is awesome! You need to watch a fair few episodes to get the underlying storyline going though. Maybe that's where people find the problem.

And it has Lance Reddick!

Only one more season of LOST brother. :-(

Hawks@ I like Warehouse 13 too and Fringe as well!

Leee@ I guess its in the eye of the beholder whether
someone likes a show or not. Fringe has a dry style
but it definitely isn't boring! I especially like
Walter, he's an extremely complex character, very
well written and John Noble (from LOTR, THE TWO
TOWERS) is wonderful in the roll!

leee, you saved yourself with that comment about lost there, pal. i was gonna get on u for criticizing great shows when at the same time u follow smallville, but at least there is that common element in lost, greatest show ever

I stopped watching Lost after season 1 - I enjoyed it but I'd prefer to watch it all in one go once the series ends.

Personally, I'd say that the best show on TV at the moment is Dexter closely followed by House and Supernatural! Lie To Me, Bones and FlashForward are also brilliant IMO. :)

Oh and as we're talking about TV shows, this is for any Scrubs fans! :D

@smokz Um no... Watchmen came out in the 80s. You know, in book form.

Dexter for me still holds the top spot, but Fringe is DEFINITELY a close 2nd.
