The Oscar nominated director of "GreenZone" gives his thoughts on his version of "The Watchmen" that never came to be. He also talks about which comic characters he likes and the possibility of directing a superhero movie in the future.







It doesn't sound to me like I would have enjoyed his version as much as I did Snyder's.

I don't like his comment about how his version of would have been a "wild re-imagining". The last thing that Watchmen needed was some new interpretation that doesn't reflect the tone of the source material. When I see a comic movie, I want the characters that I grew up reading, not some new version that some prima donna director dreamed up in his head. That's just my opinion though.

Well maybe he should come out with his version because the one that hit the theaters was very unimpressive. I had never heard of the WATCHMEN before this movie maybe if I had I would have enjoyed it more ...I GUESS.
The big blue guy just didnt seem right in the movie...he didnt seem to have any weaknesses,detached from humanity,and just plain boring!!! His character along with killing off the one guy that made the movie somewhat interesting done it in for me.
Im like there's no chance of a part2 for me the most interesting part wont be back.

Yeah, that was the whole point of "that blue guy"! He was supposed to be God-like. He was supposed to be detached from humanity, that was a major theme of the film and book. He was supposed to be boring, like Laurie said, he just looks at everyone like he doesn't care, he shows no emotion. Another major theme.

And there was never supposed to be a sequel, so criticizing Moore's decision to have him kill Rorschach off is moot.

intyler: well they did a good job with the boring like i said i knew nothing about the watchmen before hand. maybe this is a classic case of someone sticking to source material that doesnt translate well to the uninformed like myself in this case.

idk if this guy really wanted to do a superhero movie other than Watchmen, that question that the interviewer asked should have been really easy. "I don't know" is his response. Hello! There is like at least 8 I can think of that I'd want to do lol. Maybe that put him on the spot and he couldn't think of anything but seriously, I'd be like "hell yeah, I'd love to do The Flash, Hawkeye, The Avengers movie itself, or Superman or Wolverine 2 (and fix it)" lol.

Blade40, I had not heard of Watchmen before the film, and I loved the movie when it came out. Even though it didn't do well in the box office, it's one of the few really well spoken of comic book movies around. No joke. Ask anyone who has seen it (other than yourself obviously lol).

Greengrass should've done Wolverine, maybe they can get him to do part 2 in Japan.

I think he'd do an amazing job with Green Arrow. Especially since he uses Damon in a lot of his movies, if he were to direct Green arrow we may see Damon donning a bow and arrow.

Paul Greengrass should direct The Avengers and Damon should play Cap. There I said it!

Since Greengrass has worked with Matt Damon on most of the Bourne films except for the first one they would get some good chemistry going.

Think about Damon as Cap opposite Downey as Iron Man. Gold!

@SHHH Doug Liman directed the first Bourne movie, that scene in Paris was from the first film.

I would personally like to see him tackle not only Daredevil, but the Six Million Dollar Man with Gerard Butler as Col. Steve Austin, talk about EPIC!

I think that Snyder handled Watchmen perfectly well but it would be great to see Greengrass direct another CBM...I have no idea which one I'd suggest though!

I thought the movie was el perfecto, except I disagree with the original theatrical version. The Director's Cut SHOULD have been the theatrical version.

Watchmen was great! It couldn't have been improved...even if they had the same ending as the graphic novel. I thought the movie ending was just fine. That being said the Bourne movies were awesome too. I would love to see this guy doing comic book movies.

I just don't think it's weird that people who have never seen or heard of Watchmen don't like it. I'm not surprised at all.
It urks me though that those people bash it.
I saw the movie before I read the book; the movie inspired me to read it. Afterwards I still thought the movie was awesome.

@Fartman: I read the book (and still love it) before the movie and I didn't really like the movie. I think Snyder put a lot into it, but didn't get the tone right. He made a visually stunning but very shallow film to what is a very deep story. Watchmen has a lot of layers though, so I doubt any director could really produce the whole shebang though.

I loved Watchmen, but I can admit that, like all movies, it had its flaws. There was a certain tone missing at points, but the conversation on Mars and Rorschach's death were perfectly done.

There were only two unforgivable flaws in the movie: the worst sex scene ever and the casting of Ozy.

I could live with the "hallelujah" sex scene, but if they would have casted someone who could truely capture the character of Ozymandias, it would have been my favorite movie.
