Watchmen was Amazing

Watchmen was Amazing

Visually gorgeous, with true to the novel dialogue.

Saw the premiere last night and I have to say, as a 40-something year old woman and not their target audience, I thought it was amazing.

Visually, it was gorgeous with gorgeous over-the-top scenery and beautiful, but gritty, characters.

The dialogue and scenes were very true to the novel, maybe cheesy to some but pleasing to a fan of the book.

My only negative would be the overdone sex scene between Night Owl and Silk Spectre, but maybe that was done for the laughs it got. Plus, I was a bit freaked about how incredibly violent it was, but, again, I'm not the target audience.

Jackie Earl Haley was incredible as Rorschach and one of my favorite parts of the movie.

The soundtrack was freaking amazing, including Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen, and Jimi Hendrix.

I never thought I would be recommending it, but I truly did find it to be an excellent take on a great graphic novel.

Another good review. Its quite incredible how the hype has turned for this movie. It started really great... then with the squid missing it went down... and then a few weeks ago it turned good again... and now it seems to be a great film. Its an adventure almost as epic as the book!!!

They probably used the sex scene as some sort of "stress reliever" lol

can't wait to see it (and not just for the sex scene)

I am rather glad that nobody has gone into details about the ending of the movie. I do want to see it for myself to judge how well I think it works, with as little actual foreknowledge of it as possible to cloud my opinion.

May I ask a favor? Could one of the people running this Site set up separate threads for spoiler and non-spoiler reviews, for the benefit of those who don't want the movie spoiled for them, but DO want to get a general feel for how audiences are reacting to the film? I think that would be considerate to all who visit this site and want to share their opinions or review others before they see the film. There are quite a few people here who won't be able to see the movie until next week or later because of work, prior commitments, or other legitimate reasons that DO want to know, with or without spoilers, what others have to say about the Watchmen.

I agree that most of the music was pretty good but the whole sex scene? Seemed a bit out of place. I agree that it was maybe intended for laughs considering the song they have playing during it.

RE: rauchsolid

OUT OF PLACE! nothing is out of place in thiS! Watchmen is the new religion and Snyder is it's prophet, His creation is immaculate and death to the unbeliever!

yo xaosjerk
are you for real?
the movie was not good, I truly think you're imbuing the sensation you got when reading the comic book. As a movie, this doesn't even stand as a decent film. Zach Snyder gave into BS karate fighting where apparently every cop and bad guy is fully trained. Snyder is renown for his ability to capture a moment on screen and let the audience feel the message, but when was this done, how many times did he rush to the event while skipping the emotion. For instance, Nite Owl never got on top of Archie while they saved the people in the burning building, instead we were given a close encounter with Silk Spectre who "barely made it out" (i don't know why I quoted that). What was lost?? If you're asking, then I guess I don't really care what you think but the answer would be the rejuvenation of Nite Owl. His epic moment standing above the city as Billy Holiday plays in the background, it brings him back to being a superhero. Instead what did Snyder have us feel?? oh its sexy times when you go out with ur gal after 3am and do something stupid.

Zach Snyder!! Did you make/edit this movie after 3am??
Actually I take that back, Zach is a great director, but Alan Moore is a better writer and he wrote this novel to be un-filmable. Zach was just being kinda a douche.
