She has the look of that slightly crazy girlfriend who you wouldn't want to marry but could likely survive dating for a while.

@Goldboink @DocSpock - Lasted for a month and a half for me in college. And there was no "slightly" about it. I didn't know it beforehand, but she was bipolar (no offense to anyone who's bipolar - one of my closest friends was bipolar, until he was hit by a car and killed crossing the street and I believe that that's the definition of "irony"). I met her at a bar on Mardi Gras through a friend and he literally told me "Be careful, man. She's crazy.", but he was smiling at the time, so I figured he meant, like, "crazy in the sack" kind of crazy (in retrospect, he was always smiling like that, especially when drinking so I should have known better).

Anyhow, I thought I was f**king Hugh Heffner because I didn't even have to buy her a drink at the bar. The next thing I know we were back at my apartment smoking a bowl. I went to use the bathroom and when I came out she was already in the bed. I was like "That was some great shit!". Also in retrospect, that was a little TOO easy, but I was just coming off of a bad break-up so I didn't care. Another red flag: after the first night she offered to pay for us to go to Spring Break in Padre but then before we even got there she started having "money issues" and I ended up paying for most of it.

It's a LONG story (especially for such a short period of time) but the short(ish) version is that pretty soon after we got back she started getting on my nerves because I was trying to do school stuff and she would show up in the middle of the night and want to party and one night I went to sleep on the couch and she just flipped and grabbed a bunch of stuff and stormed out of my apartment. I was like hiding under a blanket expecting to get stabbed in the back with a fork. Somebody must have let into my building the next night because she showed up at my apartment and I wouldn't let her in and she ended up forcing her way in and then when I told her it was over she wrapped herself around my leg crying and I had to kinda drag her down the stairs and out the door.

Other highlights include her showing up outside my apartment night after night screaming at me from the parking lot and throwing shit from the back seat of her car at my windows like silverware, cups, shoes (it looked like she lived out of her car) until the cops showed up; her showing up after being let out of a mental facility that the cops put her in and taping a biohazard bag to the front door containing her Marines recruitment folder and paperwork and shearing the door with some type of feces; her demanding to talk to the head of the Comp. Sci. department and giving him an Easter basket containing a headless chocolate rabbit and my cell phone which she had stolen (the dept. head called me and and gave me the stuff along with this warning "Son, stop thinking with your dick."); and her stealing the last 5 checks out of my checkbook and draining all the money out of my account (her parents later paid me back after I signed an agreement saying I wouldn't press charges).

There's a lot more, but the moral of the story is this: if your buddy ever tells you about a girl "Be careful, man. She's crazy." you get clarification, damn it!

OUCH!!!! I had it bad because I married my nut, but I got out of that sh!t 35 years go, so the wounds have mostly healed.

@DocSpock - Yeah, I guess that sometimes the "crazy" is a slow burn and other times it's right there. In my case, it was like "warp speed crazy" when right after we got back from Padre she was demanding a key to my apartment. I refused and then she drove me to class at like "batshit crazy" speed weaving around cars and shit. I thought for sure she was going to kill us. Once I got there I was like "Okay this is over." So like 0-bonkers on 60 seconds. If you got al the way to the marriage point then I guess you got more of the "slow burn model". At least you got out of it before you were in too deep that you would have had to stay in so as to not tear your family apart or something.

But, hey, on the plus side, I'll bet you were never in an "engaged to be engaged" 4 1/2 year relationship that ended with you being cheating on for a Hungarian juggler named "Chubba" who was the entertainment on a cruise ship, so there's that (that was the hard break-up that led to the crazy girl). 😉

@StSteven - I didn't miss your story. I was quite obvious. Your continuing rant to @DocSpock only confirms your internal pain and wish to reach out to people in order connect and rationalise your anguish. Talking to a psychiatrist will help you.

@DocSpock - Okay cool because that would have been AWK-WARD. Seriously though, I ended up with the last laugh with the Hungarian juggler girl because she always aspired to big things like being a college professor (like we were going to get married after doing our Masters degrees) but instead she never went to grad school and just took a position as a high school teacher (nothing against that at all) and is basically supporting Chubba because as it turns out 12 years of circus school (yes, he seriously went through 12 years of circus school) and a lack of a command of the English language doesn't qualify you for much more than handing out towels at a gym.

Meanwhile I ended up with a PhD in Comp. Sci, married to another PhD in Comp. Sci. and have a Porsche in my garage, so I hope her little "Fabio romance novel" thing was worth it (FWIW I saw a pic of Chubba and at the time he looked like Pete Townsend - like Pete Townsend NOW, basically a potato head on top of a sack of rice). Oh, well, her loss 😉.

And as far as the crazy ex goes, I seriously hope that she eventually got the help she needed to live a normal life. Her parents seemed to just be enabling her by covering for her actions so hopefully she's on a good path now. Like I said, having had a friend dealing with that I have an idea of how hard it can be so while my time with her was like a rollercoaster on acid I do hope the best for her.

@DocSpock - I don't think I can even picture anyone else in the role now. It's so perfect. Can't believe I never thought of it myself.
