On the subject of the upcoming Disney/Fox merger, one of the many subjects discussed was the upcoming acquisition of Fox's share of Hulu, giving them majority control. Recently, Bob Iger confirmed plans to invest as much as $100 million into the service in the first fiscal quarter of next year, with an emphasis on launching the service internationally as well as expanding content. While the Disney+ service will have mostly family-oriented content, Iger said Hulu would have a much more "general" array, similar to the range they have now (ranging from kids shows to TV-MA dramas), as well as taking advantage of the Fox library to fuel it. This could also include an increase of Marvel shows on the platform, as Hulu is already home to Marvel's Runaways series, and is rumored to be a future potential home of their hopefully-upcoming New Warriors show.
Iger also hinted a the prospect of both bundling Hulu with their other services (ESPN+ and Disney+), but also hinted at changes to Hulu's price structure. Well, as luck would have it, until the 26th new and returning Hulu users can lock in a rate of 99 cents a month for the next 12 months.
