DAREDEVIL: BORN AGAIN Rumor Compares Action Scenes To X-MEN '97 And Teases Plans For Mayor Fisk And Muse

Daredevil: Born Again went through a major creative overhaul to bring it more in line with the Netflix series. While significant changes have been made (in the original version, Matt Murdock didn't suit up until halfway through the season), the main story is expected to remain the same.

Based on what we've pieced together, Wilson Fisk becomes New York City Mayor and clamps down on vigilantes. Meanwhile, The Punisher is hunting down corrupt cops, the vigilante White Tiger is on trial, and a serial killer, Muse, is causing chaos in Hell's Kitchen.

The Cosmic Circus recently shared some MCU updates, including plans for the villain in the upcoming Disney+ TV series.

"What I’ve heard about Muse is that his character will fan the flames of chaos in the show," the site teases. "He’ll be very sinister and deranged and will actually be an antagonist to not only Daredevil but also Kingpin, which will be an interesting dynamic to see play out."

As for how long Mayor Fisk's reign will continue, they expect it to be a "while" seeing as it extends beyond just Daredevil: Born Again.

Daredevil included many memorable action scenes, with the hallway fight sequences a highlight. We got one of those in She-Hulk: Attorney at Law and expect Daredevil: Born Again to similarly up the ante.

"As for whether Born Again will feature a one-take hallway sequence similar to the ones in the OG show, I have heard many wonderful things about how the stunt and fight coordination teams worked on this show and the way it was done," this new report teases. "If I had to explain how this show overall was approached, I would compare it to the way Marvel Animation approached X-Men '97."

"They respect the original material, built up on it, and elevated it to a new standard which I’m sure fans will love."

X-Men '97 has received praise for its inventive visuals and how well the mutant team worked together (fans have been so impressed that they've suggested the animated TV show's creative team could tackle the live-action reboot).

That extending to Daredevil: Born Again is exciting news and with Marvel Studios going to great lengths to make fans happy with this reboot/continuation, we're not shocked to learn they're going all out with the fight scenes.

Starring Charlie Cox, Vincent D'Onofrio, Jon Bernthal, Margarita Levieva, Michael Gandolfini, Genneya Walton, Arty Froushan, Deborah Ann Woll, Elden Henson, Wilson Bethel, Jeremy Earl, and Ayelet Zurer, Daredevil: Born Again premieres on Disney+ next March.

Action scenes are compared to an animated series?

Really?

TheVisionary25 - 6/7/2024, 6:10 AM
@DravenCorvis - yeah , that would make no sense

You can get away more with animation then live action since you don’t have to worry about limitations beyond budget

@DravenCorvis - Think they are only talking about a perception that Xmen 97' took most it's inspiration from a prior Xmen show and respected the source making it feel like a natural extention of it, but elevated it to being better than what came before...

...so not realy as simplistic as actions scenes will be like the animated series, only that they want to respect the Netflix show and elevate it to new heights so for instance we COULD get something Akin to the hallway fight but with a bigger budget doesn't have the limitations of needing to be JUST a poorly lit corridor for cost cutting reasons but is still just as good or better than that prior scene and feels like a natural evolution of the show.

@DravenCorvis - To be fair, that’s the clickbaity way the headline was worded. If you read the actual quotes, the comparison makes complete sense

@CerealKiller1 - Yeh in the article they talk about the action THEN they talked about the overall approach, two seperate things conflated into one but never say the action itself will be anything like that in Xmen 97' at all, only that they want to respect the action scenes of the Netflix show and build on them keeping the overall style and tone of the Netfix show LIKE the way that the animation wanted to respect the prior Xmen series and build on that keeping the same style and tone but the headline is misleading.

If that means we'll see daredevil jump, twist, turn, parkour im all for it.

This dude needs to keep up with Spider-man, so he needs to be more agile than he was before

@OptimusCrime - He certainly seemed that way in She-Hulk, particularly when swinging down from the top of the parking garage. He was pretty damn skimpy at parkour in the Netflix series, too.

@RolandD - yeah it was a great step in the right direction.
Set video showed him swinging from his billy-clubs, so fingers crossed we get to see him make some great moves mid-air

I’m a little confused…

It seems moreso to me that the scooper is saying that not just the action scenes but the overall show is being influenced by X-Men 97’s approach or am i wrong?.

Anyway if true then using X-Men 97 as an inspiration on how to also approach this revival/continuation is a good thing imo.

Also in regards to Muse , it sounds good and pretty much like the character from the comics since he has conflict with both Matt & Fisk at various points of his appearances so it seems like they might tie them together to be more intertwined most likely.

Interested to see who is playing the character , rumor has it it’s Hunter Doohan from Wednesday which would be good casting since he can play creepy well imo.

@TheVisionary25 - They are, as I read it, only saying that the animation took an old show, respected that old show, made the new one feel like a direct continuation of an old show but took it to new levels, looked at how they can make it bigger and better without loosing the tone and feel of the original...

...so looking at the way to approach something, the methodology of that, on how you respect what went before and build on it and NOT that is inspired in terms of narrative and style of the animation.

he was dope in She Hulk tho so that’s a good start.

MCU action sequences more often than not have always left something more to be desired, especially when in comparison to the early run of the DCEU (Man of Steel).

The first time I was “wowed” by a full on action sequence in the MCU was the final fight in Civil War. True hand to hand combat. Brutal. Emotional. When Cap had Tony against the wall throwing haymakers… 👌🏾👨🏾‍🍳

So this being compared to X97, the best MCU project hands down, is a GREAT THING. If they can bring that same fluidity and creativity to live action.. that’s a win for live action entertainment.

Civil War was like a high budget CW movie. Spider-Man being one of the few decent bits about that film. People into that Civil War movie are the same people who drink mineral water in long flights and by ECCO branded shoes.

Civil War was mostly great. I don't know why you would compare the people who liked it to this current snowflake pu$$y generation.

I betcha every Marvel property coming out is going to compare itself to X-men 97

@WhatIfRickJames - to be fair , this was the writer of the article comparing it then Marvel themselves

It’s valid also since both shows are continuations/revivals of beloved shows.

Wait are they saying that the actions scenes will be comparable to...
... an animated series?!?!

The MCU is so off track that they both need to SLOW DOWN and SPEED UP to address all the dangling plot threads left Post Endgame.

Fisk being mayor suggests to me that they are picking and choosing what is canon, which I am okay with. He should have gotten life in prison based on all of his crimes.

Oh, could be worse.

Could be inspired by DC animation.

All the actors stay really, really still and only their bottom lips move.

I have no idea what that means for a live action show. Just make it good.

Forget that animated crap. Just give us a great DD show which leads into a great movie or two.
