DAREDEVIL's Charlie Cox Talks Red Hair, PUNISHER And BATMAN

Daredevil's Charlie Cox was a recent guest at Dragon Con where he talked about the hardest scene to film during season 2, trying to avoid sounding like Batman and how close Matt came to having red hair.

Daredevil's Charlie Cox was one of the special guests at this past weekend's Dragon Con in Atlanta and he entertained the audience with quite a few inside stories regarding the behind-the-scenes production of his Netflix superhero drama.  The former Boardwalk Empire actor kicked off the panel by expressing his excitement for the upcoming Luke Cage series but also heaped praise on the current pop-culture phenomenon,  Stranger Things.

In regards to Daredevil, Cox said he tried his best to avoid having a "Batman voice" while wearing the costume but it was virtually impossible to avoid.  At one point, the show's producers told him he was sounding a little "too much" like The Dark Knight but Cox replied that there's just not a lot of other ways to sound threatening while wearing a costume.

As for the most difficult scene to film during season 2, Cox stated that it was definitely the hallway fight against the Biker gang where he also had to carry Jon Bernthal's Punisher.  However, it was another behind the scenes story from Cox involving the Punisher that drew the most laughs from the audience.  Apparently producers were very impressed when Cox shed a tear while shooting the scene where Frank Castle tells Matt about his tragic backstory.  Only...Charlie said he doesn't remember actually crying.  When he got the chance to watch the scene he realized that it was actually sweat as they had just completed the aforementioned fight scene with the Biker gang.  "If I ever need to cry, I’m gonna carry Jon Bernthal."

Cox also disclosed that he apparently dyed his hair red for the role at some point but the hair color just didn't look right on him.  "We tried.  It looked really weird."

Daredevil season 3 was recently confirmed by Marvel and Netflix back in July but the series (along with Jessica Jones season 2) won't air until after The Defenders streams in 2017.

@LordHarryLatts

Kill Karen and Foggy within the first five minutes of episode 1. Destroy The Hand at the end of the first episode. Make the main antagonists Bullseye and Kingpin.

@Scorpionlostson -

ifkr. If WB had any sense whatsoever, they would have dug up Christopher Reeve to reprise the role. Hacks. Crooks. Reboot the [frick]ing reboot.

Unpopular opinion here:
I kinda wish The Punisher wasn't getting his own show. In my opinion one of the main reasons he was so awesome to me in Daredevil was because he was so mysterious. We never got too much of him which made us want more, and now that they're giving us more it just feels like we're gonna get too much of a good thing...

@webheaded - Mysterious? They explained his whole backstory and what drives him.

Now they can focus entirely on him and his war on crime.

The Punisher has never been a very mysterious character. He's very straight forward. War Vet. Family killed by mobsters. Now he fights crime.

There really isn't anything that anyone has to guess about him....

@CorndogBurglar - I guess mysterious was the wrong word. I really loved the way the writers used him sparingly. He came in for a few episodes in the beginning of the season and was immediately gone only to come back for a quick moment to end the season. I liked that approach to his character a lot. He's the guy you don't see much of, so whenever you do see him it's special. Giving him his own show just kind of throws all of that out the window.

But hey, if diehard Punisher fans are happy then that's really all that matters

@webheaded - i get your point, your saying he works better as a boba fett

but his solo comics are some of the best shit ive read, so if they do it right him as the lead character could be phenomenal!

good season. would end up being medicore without the Punisher. the whole Hand stuff was a little bit too convoluted imo. i'm saying this as a non - Daredevil comic book reader.
