ECHO Clip Sees Maya Lopez Unleash Her Badass Fighting Skills As New Featurette Focuses On The Kingpin

Marvel Studios has released a new clip from Echo which sees Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) squaring off with a group of goons. Another featurette has also dropped which showcases Vincent D'Onofrio's Kingpin...

We're a little over 24 hours away from all five episodes of Echo arriving on Disney+ and Marvel Studios has just released an action-packed clip highlighting exactly what Maya Lopez is capable of. With moves like this, we'd go so far as to say she's a contender for one of the MCU's biggest (non-powered) badasses.

Upon closer inspection, it looks like this scene takes place in the same location as her fight with Daredevil, so perhaps this is right before the Man Without Fear makes his presence felt.

Complex also recently caught up with Vincent D'Onofrio to discuss his return as Wilson Fisk, and pushed the actor to reveal how similar what we see in Echo (the first "Marvel Spotlight" series) is to the Kingpin's next planned appearance in Daredevil: Born Again.

"The main difference would be that Echo is Maya's story. It's Alaqua Cox's story, for sure. It follows her from the first frame to the last, and that alone makes it significantly different than Daredevil."

This new Daredevil, we did it a lot in the original Netflix series, but we've taken it to another level now where we're really just examining these two men, Matt Murdock and Wilson Fisk," he teased. "It is really an examination of these two people, these two men and everybody in their lives who they care about. They're both broken human beings, and I guess you’ll have to tune in to see if they ever get mended or not."

Check out this latest clip from Echo in the X post below:

A new featurette has also been released which puts the spotlight on D'Onofrio's return as the Kingpin of Crime:

The five-episode streaming event spotlights Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox) as she is pursued by Wilson Fisk's (Vincent D'Onofrio) criminal empire. When the journey brings her home, she must confront her own family and legacy.

Echo also stars Chaske Spencer (Wild IndianThe English), Graham Greene (1883Goliath), Tantoo Cardinal (Killers of the Flower MoonStumptown), Devery Jacobs (FX's Reservation DogsAmerican Gods), Zahn McClarnon (Dark Winds, FX's Reservation Dogs), Cody Lightning (Hey, Viktor!Four Sheets to the Wind) and Vincent D’Onofrio (HawkeyeGodfather of Harlem).

The series is directed by Sydney Freeland (Navajo) and Catriona McKenzie (Gunaikurnai).

All five episodes of Echo will premiere on Disney+ and Hulu on January 9.

I never imagined Kingpin would be getting this much screentime. I'm really happy about this. I just hope the rumors of him being the main antagonist in spiderman 4 are true

Next up on my dream list, let's see the X Factor team get their own movie please 🙏🏾

Aite that was a lot cleaner than the DD fight clip. You could feel the hits here.

@GhostDog - Agree completely. Lot more realistic and yes, those punches to the face were brutal.

@GhostDog - I think it's the same fight. It's the same set and I believe Daredevil will show up during this scene and things escalate from there.

@Kingdork - that makes sense. Feels like Echo gets thrown into the fire for the first time by Fisk. Its a test to see if she can hang and DD surges the stakes.

I'm in! Haven't been too excited lately with the Disney+ shows from both Star Wars and Marvel. But this? It just looks kick ass.

Looks like he was only grazed with with bullet or that she missed all together and he just got hit by some shrapnel. I was worried that he might be missing an eye permanently and would have to wear an eyepatch moving forward. Looks like that won’t be the case.

I’m still holding onto hope that Fisk was able to procure some version of the Super Soldier Serum during the blip, which would explain his increased strength he demonstrated in Hawkeye and enhanced durability. This coup possibly even give him the ability to heal much from non-lethal wounds much faster.

@BruceWayng - At an educated guess from the clip he turned his head just enough when she pulled the trigger that the bullet hit the bone around the eye socket so would likely have some damage to his cornea which could explain the eye patch after a transplant and could likely have had a orbital fracture from it which again you can recover from. IRL that wouldn't negate some long term impact but in CBM world would be suffice to return to no issues down the road whilst temp being something exploitable due to short term issues. In that could have blind spots, impaired spacial awareness and poor judging of distance making it easier to dodge blows for someone like Echo but be fully fighting fit for SM4.

In terms of serum, all for them putting that in to explain him seemingly being far stronger etc esp if they bring in something like MGH, a temp form to do Eli's Patriot origin and also to potentialy power up Kingpin's thugs.

How many ways can they cut up the same Kingpin dialog and call it a new trailer?

@AvalonX - My money is on the first and last episodes for about 5-10 minutes a piece.

@AvalonX - Just remember how much She Hulk marketing showed Daredevil in it to give the impression that he’d be a main character.

@mountainman - You know its like this because they wont show anymore of the show.

Also, Im going to say it again. Dont be surprised if Kingpin isnt in this a lot. They arent showing any of the explore Native American stuff they have been advertising.

Years ago we got preached at for calling women “badass” saying it’s wrong but I guess now it’s ok to say a woman is “badass”. I wish society would make its mind up.

@IronMan616 - Yes, same ones as the comic version of Taskmaster initialy and a lot of martial arts training but is being given additional powers in her series but probably not as OP as the one's she recently got in the comics and certainly not in the same way (as in comics she gained them from the Phoenix force, in this they are coming from her spirit quest)

That said I've seen 5 foot women beatin on grown men a lot bigger than them IRL enough times to know size or gender isn't everything when it comes to fighting (Geordie girls are oft WAY more scary than any guys from Newcastle).
AvalonX
AvalonX - 1/8/2024, 7:18 PM
@IronMan616 - In the comics shes a master assassin with powers like taskmaster. In this stupid show, they are giving her magical bullshit native american indian powers so she can tackle dudes through walls.

So basically, aside from being deaf and native american, they gave her a prosthetic leg (because the actress has one) and then changed everything about her. She a love interest/antagonist to Daredevil and an Avenger a few times. She spent time as Ronan so shes a ninja but the show ignores all that because ...native american.
