ECHO: New Details Revealed About Maya Lopez's Powers Along With Glimpse At The Hero's New MCU Costume

Some newly revealed details about Disney+'s Echo shed new light on Maya Lopez's superpowers, while an upcoming set of LEGO Minifigures reveals a first possible look at the character's updated MCU costume.

Echo will be released this November, with all six episodes set to premiere simultaneously on Disney+. That's a new approach for Marvel Studios and one that's raised a lot of questions about the upcoming Hawkeye spin-off (and, if recent rumours are to be believed, a Daredevil: Born Again lead-in).

We recently learned that Maya Lopez will have superpowers in her solo series and is set to unleash them through tattoos that manifest on her hands. On the page, Echo had no extra abilities before being bonded with the Phoenix Force, and that's something the show appears to be pulling inspiration from.

However, the live-action of Maya will make use of powers that are tied to her Choktaw ancestors.

Now, additional details have been shared by scooper CanWeGetSomeToast. Apparently, she'll have "sharpshooting" abilities which allow her to manifest a gun once used by one of her forebearers. It sounds a little strange but could be fun to see on screen.

In related news, a first look at LEGO's upcoming MCU Minifigures reveal a glimpse at what appears to be Echo's new costume. As you can see, Maya appears to be wielding a new weapon of some sort and this appears to be a totally new design.

Other Minifgures on the way include Agatha Harkness, Moon Knight, Mr. Knight, Werewolf by Night, She-Hulk, Hawkeye, Kate Bishop, Goliath, Beast, Storm, and Wolverine.

The origin story of Echo revisits Maya Lopez (Alaqua Cox), whose ruthless behaviour in New York City catches up with her in her hometown. She must face her past, reconnect with her Native American roots and embrace the meaning of family and community if she ever hopes to move forward.

As noted, all episodes of Echo will premiere on Disney+ on November 29.

Those minifigs look pretty decent. Especially the X-Men.

Mystical summonable sharpshooting gun?

What made her standout was the fact she’s a deaf girl with photographic reflexes that’d [frick] you up. She didn’t need powers. But of course, they couldn’t make her work for who she is, because they never had a good idea for this show in the first place. It was only made to fill Disney+ with content

I’m pretty sure that Minifigure is Kate rather then Maya.

Anyway , tying her powers to her ancestors could be cool even if it sounds a bit strange on paper…

We know the show is exploring her culture and Native American Ancestry while she is connecting with her roots so it makes sense thematically.

@TheVisionary25 - I think they're suggesting Maya is bottom left, not the obvious Kate Bishop one with pizza and Lucky.

@MosquitoFarmer - That image is so poor. I thought it was Gambit because it sits in the same line as all the other X-Men '97 characters, Beast, Storm and Wolverine.

The tragic part is that they butchered Taskmaster and took his(hers) powers away because they gave them to this girl… now she has a completely different power set :)

@Matchesz - There’s zero basis for you to come to that conclusion. Just give your critique for what is apparent rather than speculate and jump to conclusions to reinforce your biases. We never even saw her have photographic reflexes to begin with.

So in Hawkeye, she had no powers and now in her own show she is just suddenly going to have a superpower. Ok got, they have no idea what they are doing. Cool cool.

All episodes will be released on Nov 29. Marvel hopes everyone will forget about this awful series by Nov 30.
