The Hollywood Reporter has learned that Marvel Studios' upcoming Hawkeye series has found a writer and executive producer in former Mad Men scribe and executive story editor Jonathan Igla.

His past credits also include FOX's Pitch and Facebook's Elizabeth Olsen drama Sorry for Your Loss.

While it's still early in the development process, the series will follow fan-favorite Avenger Clint Barton (Jeremy Renner) as he takes young archer Kate Bishop under his wing and trains her to be a superhero.

Hawkeye was officially confirmed at San Diego Comic-Con this past July and has been slated for a Fall 2021 launch on the Disney+ streaming service. It was one of four Marvel Studios-produced Disney+ series that were announced at the annual convention, joining The Falcon and the Winter Soldier (Fall 2020), WandaVision (Spring 2021), and Loki (Spring 2021).

Additionally, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige announced She-Hulk, Ms. Marvel and Moon Knight at the D23 Expo last month, but those are expected to debut in 2022 and later.

@tmp3 - Today I find out there was an internet community that I would have loved to be a part of and it was disbanded yesterday. My luck.

Hmmm....I'm tempted to get the Hawkeye omnibus before it goes out of print and sells for crazy prices.

Good the show is already making developments behind the scenes. I think Pitch was years ago canceled during it's first Season but on the hand the Facebook show has performed well. (Crazy how now everyone has it's own streaming app)

What will really set this more forward is once they cast Kate Bishop.

This doesn't exactly bode confidence in me. He writing credits are very slim pickings and his "Mad Men" credits are 6 episodes. On top of that as much as I like Fraction's Hawkeye I'm not quite sure if this Hawkeye is gonna translate all that well into this show.

My guess is that this is going to do nothing but serve as a way to replace Clint and get Kate in there... I hope I'm wrong but with the family ties and lack of having Clint connected to literally anything he's done in the comics (Thunderbolts, West Coast Avengers, Mockingbird) I just don't think it'll be the type of Hawkeye show I actually wanted and probably turn into the Kate show and she'll be the character that ends up actually acting like he should have...

Not to say I don't like Kate, just disappointed since we never really got the full Hawkeye treatment with Clint, oh well.

I checked which Madmen episodes he wrote and I honestly can't remember whether these were good ones or bad ones (I binged the series all at once and it's all kind of a blur). I've heard good things about Pitch and Sorry for Your Loss. Beyond that... I got nothing but high hopes and Captain Marvel gifs.

Renner's Hawkeye just doesn't excite me. He hasn't done anything so far to wow me or make me care.
