HELSTROM Canceled At Hulu After Just One Season, Ending The Marvel Television Era Once And For All

In news that will surprise no one, Helstrom has been cancelled at Hulu after just one season, bringing the era of Marvel Television to an end as the focus is shifted to Disney+. Read on for details...

Marvel Studios and Marvel Television may both be part of the same company, but their projects couldn't be more separate. The latter has only ever had access to the characters Kevin Feige doesn't need or want, though the end of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. saw that show's executive producers reveal they'd been stopped from using M.O.D.O.K.; Clearly, Marvel Studios has always been in charge.

Now, they've been tasked with creating a slate of shows set firmly in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and that means the Marvel Television era of storytelling is now at an end.

Adding to that is the news that Helstrom has been cancelled at Hulu after just one season.

This was to be expected, as the show was never really marketed as a new Marvel TV series (likely meaning viewership was low). Showrunner Paul Zbyszewski (who previously worked on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.) had his overall deal with Marvel terminated in April, so the show was done for even back then.

The M.O.D.O.K. and Hit-Monkey animated TV shows coming to Hulu are all that's really left from Jeph Loeb's time in charge of Marvel Television, though it's unlikely they'll last any longer than Helstrom.

Instead, the focus is being shifted to big budget Marvel Studios projects on Disney+ like WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier

Yeah when he told that nun that she shouldn't go visit his mother one-on-one because she's dangerous then he gets accused of mansplaining and has to apologize, then has to rescue her because he was 100% right, I was like...

@soberchimera - did that really happen? It sounds like a parody of these sjw projects rather than something serious.

Just out of curiosity what is it about social injustice that you find so appealing?

@Goldboink - The part where a lot of these perceived “injustices” take away focus on real ones.

@Goldboink - good strawman right there.

@patgreyc - exactly. People are killed for things outside their control, yet we're here arguing about groups not being in enough high budget movies.

You know it's possible to discuss both issues without taking anything from either issue, right?

Claiming you can't would be be the same as someone saying that spending your time on a comic book website discussing and often arguing about comic book films is ridiculous when there are way more important things we could or should be discussing and doing right now.

It would be kind of arrogant for me to think I can determine what grievances can be discussed and outright ridiculous for me to dismiss anyone's desire for representation, especially if I am in the group that's almost always represented by default.

What, pray tell, are those injustices that are not getting the attention that real ones deserve?

Actually not a straw man. There a ton of people who complain about the SJW's as having invalid arguments and I always like to know just which kind of social injustices that people are in favor of when they complain about those who fight for social justice.

@Humperdink - except one is unquestionably an issue and the other one really isnt. Seriously, its not as if any group is barred from being in movies. And of course the group that is the majority is gonna be in the majority of films.

And its this logic of saying "i cant judge what people have grievances with" that led to the antivaxxer and haes movements getting as big as they are.

@Goldboink - and i just stated one. How about the fact gays in middle eastern countries are killed? And need i remind you of the corruption in police departments. With all the actual problems, mansplaining isnt even that.

And seriously, you're arguing for social equality and yet you're defending the sexist term mansplaining?

That was some other person with the whole mansplaining thing. I just object to the term SJW because it ultimately denigrates all of those marginalized communities rather than just a few crybabies in the entertainment business who don't amount to a hill of beans.

@Goldboink - If I have to explain it to you, then you obviously don’t know how to use the internet as a research resource. Also, I think that sentence got away from you, I’m not sure if you want examples of real issues or personal offense.

@Goldboink - but...sjw is made to go against those crybabies. Thats why you dont hear people going on a protest for george floyd being called sjw. Thats why i specifically said sjw when replying to the comment saying there was mansplaining in the show. THAT is sjw.

I have a friend who didn’t get into the law school of his choice and a Mexican kid with somewhat worse test scores got in on a diversity thingie. He went all the way to the Supreme Court and had racial preferences overturned. It’s called the hop wood decision. For some people a privileged white kid not getting into the school of his choice is a big social justice issue. That’s why I ask.

@soberchimera - Lmao.. Thankfully such SJW crap is all thrown out soon. Hollywood and Media SJW are the absolute worst. They have no idea about what real problems are, build them up and drown out any valid criticisms and viewpoints online. Fascistic in their opinion. When it comes to Chinese atrocities or speaking out against real problems they're mum. none of these assholes speak out against the rampant child abuse and pedophilia in the industry/political circles etc..

@Razorface1 - I thought it was actually pretty cool. Sure, some tweaking here and there, but definitely some big potential. The season cliffhanger was awesome and could have led to an unreal 2nd season.
