HOWARD THE DUCK, M.O.D.O.K., HIT-MONKEY And More Coming To Hulu As Animated Series

Forget The Avengers and The Defenders: The Offenders are coming! Hulu has announced a slate of animated TV shows, and characters like Dazzler, Tigra, and Howard the Duck will be getting the spotlight...

Marvel TV may have dropped the ball on that Deadpool animated series which was supposed to be coming to FX, but they're now teaming up with Hulu (which will soon be owned by Disney) to launch The Offenders.

Four separate animated TV shows will be launched revolving around M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, Tigra & Dazzler, and Howard the Duck. Similar to what happened on Netflix with The Defenders, they'll then be brought together for a team-up series. There's no word on what animation style we should expect but the shows will be aimed at adults rather than kids.

What's really interesting here is the characters who have been chosen to feature in these shows: if Marvel TV is bringing them to the small screen, you have to believe that there's now a much smaller chance that we'll see them in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (unless the fact they're animated helps change that).

UPDATE: Marvel has released the following teaser image:

Here's are the official descriptions for each series, including who is involved creatively, courtesy of The Hollywood Reporter:

M.O.D.O.K. centers around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. Writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt will also executive produce.

Hit-Monkey tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga. Writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck will executive produce.

Tigra & Dazzler Show is a story about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers.

Howard the Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America’s favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu. Writers Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will also executive produce.

The Offenders follows MODOK, Dazzler, Tigra, Hit Monkey and Howard the Duck as they are all forced to team up in order to save the world and certain parts of the universe.

If they are animated adventures set in the MCU, then sure could be interesting. But pretty bizarre.

I think the more important thing is that there is a big collaboration between Marvel and Hulu now (yeah, in addition to the Runaways show that no one watches), and that could open the door for other future Marvel projects or continuations of Marvel series that were on other services...
