Don't Worry, Not Even The Director Of Marvel's INHUMANS Liked The Trailer

More bad news for Inhumans as the director of the first two episodes of the upcoming Marvel/IMAX series has admitted that not even he was a fan of the incredibly divisive and widely panned first trailer.

Screengrabs from the first Inhumans trailer leaked online before it was released and while many hopeful fans urged those who weren't quite so positive to wait and see, the finished product failed to impress. Since then, the backlash to the show has not died down and even the second, much better trailer was bombarded with negative headlines due to the appalling special effects and acting.

Well, if you were among those who hated that first look at Inhumans, then fear not as you're in good company! During a recent chat with Metro, director Roel Reine admitted that he wasn't actually surprised by the backlash because he also thought the first trailer was poor and released too soon.

"I was mixed about the first trailer as well. I felt like it didn’t give you the scope, it didn’t give you a lot of secrets or visual effects. I felt it was a little bit too early because the visual effects were not ready – Medusa’s hair was not ready. So I was really nervous about it and would think the fans would not really like it. When I watched the first trailer I was like ‘ooosh’. But me as a filmmaker, as a director, you’re not involved with the marketing part of these things. The trailer was made by other people, so I was really nervous about it when I saw it. So I was like, “oh guys maybe we should hold off,” but it was too late because it was already in the open."

Reine went on to say that he much preferred the second trailer and was pleased to see that it won many fans around. The fact that everyone from the director to producers and stars are now having to go on the defensive like this is not good and doesn't seem to bode particularly well for the series.

We'll just have to wait and see if Inhumans is a hit both on the big and small screens but how do you guys feel about the show right now? As always, be sure to let us know your thoughts in the usual place.

This show is likely going to be terrible. Why else is everyone involved suddenly needing to come out and defend it?

@CaptDeadpool - Because it is as equally stupid to hate something that is not out yet and you still to hate it as it is to defend it in the same circumstances.

That being said, those early comments don't really encourage me...

Just seems like Marvel TV is in a downward spiral. The Netflix shows have gotten progressively worse with each instalment and now this. Granted, apparently Agents of SHIELD is really good now, but seeing this makes one think they need to take a step back with all these TV projects like Cloak and Dagger, The Runaways and New Warriors. Quality over quantity. If The Defenders isn't, at the very least, decent, it'll be really concerning.

@Spodermug - I don't like it but I agree with this. Second half of Luke Cage and Ironfist were terrible. AoS has been getting better but its coming of a low base.
I am worried that they are going to flood us with half-assed super hero shows that are supposed to be connected to MCU but are just money making crap.

Let's be honest, this should have been a movie. The are going in a cosmic direction anyway and having this, would have fir in nicely. As of TV show, or Imax whatever the hell you want to call it...it will not work. It just doesn't have the same effect that it it would as a big budget movie.

but Lockjaw ...

i think they are currently reshooting scenes to add more Lockjaw.

@jerryblake - I'd rather see a show about Lockjaw.

I think its safe to say that Inhumans is going to be dead on arrival. A show that already didn't inspire a lot of enthusiasm to begin with can't survive this constant stream of bad press - especially a show that costs as much as this one. Shame; I really like the trio of leads (Anson Mount in particular was great in Hell on Wheels) but I'll be skipping this one just like the majority of people.

@Malkochson - honestly, I think the biggest market for superhero tv shows aren't that passionate about these things. Most people that will watch this show don't even know inhuman's is a thing yet. They will just be scrolling through channels, think "oh, a marvel tv show" and put it on. They will probably be easily drawn into whatever drama is present, tv people eat that up.

Well, there's always Van Helsing. I watched the first season this weekend and man is it surprisingly good.

I was gonna give this show a chance and at least watch the 1st episode but I'm not even gonna bother. If there is a crossover episode with AOS that is the only way I will watch.
