INHUMANS Executive Producer Attempts To Defend Poor Quality Of Series And Medusa's Abysmal Wig

Inhumans EP Jeph Loeb urges fans to be patient with the IMAX series but his excuse for what we've seen so far is likely to make you roll your eyes! Serinda Swan also attempts to defend Medusa's wig.

Things are not looking good for Inhumans. The first review tore the show to pieces and fans have not responded well to the trailers and images which have found their way online. As a result, it appears as if the series will be a high profile and big budget flop for Marvel, ABC, and IMAX but executive producer Jeph Loeb has urged fans and critics alike - via Deadline - to be patient because...it's not finished?

That's right, talking at the show's TCA panel last night, Loeb claimed that Inhumans is still a work in progress despite the fact that it hits IMAX screens in three weeks and that what we've seen from the first couple of episodes would almost certainly be done at such a late stage in its production.

Addressing Inhumans' IMAX opening, he said that it's "simply extraordinary and should be seen on that screen" before adding: "I can tell you that the show you have seen is not the finished product, so if you’re asking me whether it’s done, it’s not." That was in response to a critic saying that the show doesn't actually appear to be making good use of those IMAX cameras and when another pointed out a muddled subplot with Karnak, Loeb once again attempted to defend the upcoming series.

"What you’ve seen so far is something that’s unfinished," he repeated. "Once you’ve seen the whole finished product you actually do [understand]." As excuses go, that's really far from the best one!

However, the EP wasn't the only one forced to go on the defensive. Star Serinda Swan was quizzed on Medusa's terrible looking wig and the appalling CGI effects which have made headlines since the release of that second trailer and said: "It’s never been done before so there are going to
be issues. There are going to be trial and tribulations. I think there was software that actually had to be built with it. If we only did things that were perfect we would never start and so it’s a phenomenal start."

The problem is that IMAX has spent a lot of money on Inhumans and will not be happy with a less than perfect show premiering on their screens. A bad start is unlikely to help ratings too and while Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. has survived, a show like this simply won't be able to if people choose not to tune in.

This is a disaster. I really want to laugh but I feel so bad for the cast.

But screw Loeb and Buck.

@Kurne - Yeah, me too. I really wanted this to succeed, but Buck and Loeb dropped the ball spectacularly. It hurts to see how bad it really is.

Was never a huge Inhumans comics fan, I am reading the new Black Bolt series (really good btw) but I never want to see these kind of reviews for any CBM or show. Hopefully there is some good in the show and it's not as terrible as it seems. Nothing in the trailers or pictures has my hopes very high, though.

Over time it might be time to stop blaming Buck and actually make Jeph Loeb accountable as well if things do not improve.

The product itself doesn't look good, especially after... taking certain things into consideration.

Still...judging from that panel, it appears those journalist have been huge dicks about it.
Can't believe the SDCC's audience showed more respect for all of this, than these ppl.
I guess a bunch of nerds CAN be more mature than would be "professional journalists"...

@Doomsday8888 - Have you been to SDCC? Or any con? Most of the audience members attending those panels show the utmost respect for the cast and crew.

I only want to say that as far as floating hair, or "live" hair goes, the first scene of the first episode of The Expanse, another show that I'm sure didn't have Inhumans's budget, was another thing entirely. Watch starting at 1:35.

I actually don't understand why everyone hates this show before it's even come out. The trailer was generic but it didn't look much worse than Runaways or The Gifted. Just uninspired.

@Nightwing1015 - Because Runaways looks exactly like the comics and this looks like generic CW/AOS leather jacket BS.

Nightwing1015 - 8/7/2017, 4:24 AM
@WakandaManAreU - Yes, it looks exactly like CW/AOS. That's my point. Those shows are pretty popular and people don't hate them as much as this.

@Nightwing1015 - I think it also has something to do with this once being on the film slate, and the potential it had in that medium compared to what we've seen so far. There's no comparison, so I feel like people are feeling a bit let down about the whole thing.

They're talking like the show's taking this big risk that it's gonna change the comic book TV genre when everything they've shown so far is the opposite of that - a mundane and uninspired attempt for an unconventional comic series.

At this point, I cannot give less sh*t about the IMAX format. The acting, dialogue, costumes and choreography look terrible in all the clips and trailers. That's what I'm worried about. IMAX is not gonna improve any of those.

I will be very surprised if the "finished product" turns out to be good.

@KIDCOM - Indeed. Even if just mediocre, the hype is already dead.
toylled

@KIDCOM - Yeah all they did was brag about the IMAX format.. this show isn't going to use CGI that movies like guardians of the galaxy uses because it's too expensive. I completely agree with you that the IMAX isn't going to make any of their issues any better.

It's like putting cheap tires on an expensive car.

@RIKSHAWRenegade - I wouldn't be surprises if they quietly sweep this show under the rug and made a separate, unrelated movie on the property.

I'll probably watch just because of lockjaw.who can resists a giant ball of cuteness. Still hoping his character is regal and intelligent but with what we have seen it doesn't look like it.

i can understand Swan statement about Medusa hair. sill - i will say it again - the problem could be that they tried to CGI whole wig and not single hairs. that's why the effect looks so weird. at least it's how i see it (for now).

as for Loeb statement ... "unfinished" ? sorry but for me this is

also, if the product was unfinished how come somebody review it ?
