Bryan Singer Dropped As LEGION Executive Producer Amid Sexual Assault Allegations

Just hours after we learned Bryan Singer will likely be removed as an executive producer on season two of The Gifted, it's now been confirmed that the filmmaker will no longer serve as one on Legion.

The bad news keeps on coming for X-Men director Bryan Singer as it's been confirmed today that he's been removed as an executive producer on FX's critically acclaimed Legion. The news comes before work starts on season two but the twist here is that Singer is the one who asked to be removed.

"Bryan asked to take his name off the show, so we have done that," Legion creator/executive producer Noah Hawley told Deadline following a TCA panel for the series earlier today. Sources tell the trade that Singer reached out to FX once that new wave of sexual misconduct and assault claims surfaced and this is unlikely to change the show because he was only involved in the very early stages.

"Very early on in the conception of the show, I met him a couple of times," Hawley explains. "He was interested in directing the pilot, but once I stepped in to direct, I haven’t spoken to him since that moment. Really, he was a name on the screen." Between this and Simon Kinberg taking over the X-Men franchise on the big screen, it appears as if Singer's time with these Marvel heroes is at an end.

He's most likely never going to work on a superhero film ever again or work at all

I'll be surprised if his name is attached to any big projects going forward.

You just never know in who you can trust nowadays.

@NinnesMBC - It's still only accusations. The fact he himself asked to have his name removed after the accusations tells me it's a false accusation. But we can't know for sure until a trial.

@Origame - lol sorry but that logic is so flawed its insane. I dont think him asking to have his name removed means anything other than he doesnt want the show to be affected by the negative press. He can take his name off it but hes still a producer or someone who will gain monetary interest from this.

I think if anything him coming out taking his name off means hes more than likely guilty, but I dont think for a second this type of news would make me lean one way or the other. If he was innocent then he would fight it and not take his name off

@deadlyClass - Dude I'm not saying he's innocent. I'm saying that taking this bit of information that makes his position more favorable in the innocent category because that's speaking pretty highly of his character knowing that this situation would be harmful to anything with his name attached and going out of his way to ask for his name to be removed from a show he's barely involved with so that doesn't effect them. How does that say he's guilty?

@lilbuddy67 - Yeah, because that's how you counter someone's point. So mature.

"In law, an allegation is a claim of a fact by a party in a pleading, charge, or defense. Until they can be proved, allegations remain merely assertions."

By definition until proven it is not a confirmation or factually supported.

It would certainly not be the first time that someone has falsely accused someone.

Normally happens when a big project is about to happen because regardless of whether it happened or not, the main reason people make the accusations is normally for financial gain or to ruin the reputation of the person involved.

If for example, you wanted to harm a project, the best way to do so would be to attack those involved. If someone said that RDJ sexually assaulted them then it could affect Avengers Infinity War.

Notice also how it is a 'new wave' of sexual misconduct and assault claims - not a single person but multiple people all making claims around the same time.

- Is it possible that they are all true and just so happened to all make allegations at the same time, yes.

- Is it also possible that some of them simply heard that someone was making a sexual assault allegation and thought they could benefit from a false accusation, yes.

Making a False Accusation carries a maximum penalty of 7 years imprisonment but a majority of the time those who make such accusations are often dealt with outside of court as it's damaging to those involved regardless of truth - as such reward often overpowers the level of risk.

@lilbuddy67 - Oh I'm sorry. I didn't realize you have actual evidence that pretty much closes this case before it even gets to court. Please explain this to me. I mean, it's not like this is someone who hasn't been tried and this is a country founded on innocent until proven guilty.

@BlackBeltJones - he was accused a few years ago as well, and he still made Days Of Future Past and Apocalypse.

@dracula - If that's the accuser I'm thinking of, it was because he accused Singer of molesting him at a place and time Singer could not have been at. I'm not saying all the allegations against him are untrue, as none of us know what happened, but this particular one didn't hold up.

I don't know what to think about this story. On one hand, sexual assaults are a very serious criminal offense and those criminals deserve everything that happen to them from now on (having their social lives and careers destroyed, going to jail, etc...), but on the other hand, I'm still "very" wary of accusations until it's actually proven that the accused is indeed guilty. It could do a lot of harm that cannot be easily undone to someone who is actually innocent, and right now we're on a actual state of media frenzy and paranoia.
Origame
Origame - 1/5/2018, 5:35 PM
@Amuro - Yeah. And with ALL these accusations coming out at the same time? At least some of them would most likely be false. These are celebrities we're talking about. And it's easy to see yourself as being a hero in the public image by just making one of these accusations. Not saying anyone in particular was fibbing (I know that thought process could be even more dangerous).
