With a second season on the horizon, the Loki finale certainly didn't wrap things up in a particularly neat fashion. In fact, the fates of quite a few characters were left up in the air, including Gugu Mbatha-Raw's Judge Renslayer. In "For All Time. Always.", Miss Minutes provides her with some files "he" (as in "He Who Remains") thinks would be more useful than the origins of the TVA.

With that, she sets off to find "free will," but something tells us Renslayer has a much grander plan.

Talking to Marvel.com, Head Writer Michael Waldron explains: "She has the making of a very complex villain that has her own set of principles and beliefs that drive her/ She doesn't believe that what she's doing is evil. She believes that the mission is for greater good, and Renslayer probably wishes that she never learned that the Time Keepers were fake, that they had just been able to keep doing this forever."

"She's the good soldier of the TVA, just a disciple to the bureaucracy," he continued. "Then it's revealed to be a lie to her. Instead of that galvanizing her and making her question her life's purpose, the way it did with Mobius, Renslayer wants to stay in power. She reacts more in anger. She wants to [find] who pulled the wool over her eyes. That's what she's going to go out in search of. She is a scary customer to be out there in the Multiverse. So we'll see what happens."

Mbatha-Raw added to that by commenting on the moment we meet Renslayer's Variant, Rebecca Tourminet, in 2018. "The idea that pretty much everyone in the TVA is a variant, and that there are other variants of Renslayer in different times, that was kind of mind-blowing to me," she admits. "We just dipped our toe into [this] at the end of the show. But you realize that the Multiverse just is so epic. The possibilities are endless. There's so much potential for what's on the other side of that Time Door. And ultimately, she wants revenge with whoever put this whole facade together."

So, it sounds like Renslayer is heading after Kang the Conqueror, so perhaps she'll be the one to pull Loki out of the new reality he finds himself in? Time will tell on that front, but this episode of Loki also saw Miss Minutes' true nature revealed as a sentient being who had been working for "He Who Remains" this entire time.

Loki director Kate Herron reveals that in an earlier version of the show, "we had a fight scene with Miss Minutes in the Citadel; we had all kinds of stuff [for her]." However, it ultimately became more interesting to explore her dynamic with the Kang Variant she's secretly been serving.

"I liked the idea [that he’s] someone who's living [alone]," Herron adds. "In a weird way, it almost connected with me a bit during the lockdown because I was living on my own for four months like a lighthouse keeper. I was editing the show and probably going a bit strange, and I was just talking to my dog all the time. And maybe that's what it's like with Miss Minutes. Maybe [He Who Remains] just talks to Miss Minutes, and that's it."

Will we see more of her? That's hard to say, but something tells us she might not be finished in the MCU. Judge Renslayer certainly isn't, and given her relationship with Kang in the comic books, a dangerous new alliance could be in the process of forming.

The greater good.

So a few qeustions here:
1. What ever happened to those trailer shots of King Loki and stuff? Do you think they were a diversion or will they be used in something else?
2. Ravonna Renslayer got to keep her High School pen in the TVA, why? Even though she's connected to Kang in the comics, she doesn't seem to be special in the series in any way.
3. So Mobius doesn't get his Jet Ski after all. Do you think Marvel will pay attention to the fan demand and include it in the future after all this mess blows over?

@Fares - either King Loki is a misdirect, or something we'll see in S2.

The pen is interesting though. And Mobius better get his jetski

@Fares -
1- probably just a trailer shot. it's not like Marvel is strange to those.
2- she doesn't seem special YET. we saw Miss Minutes giving her a location or something, she entered a portal and we never saw her again in the episode. I'm guessing that's something for season 2. as for the pen, I may be remembering wrong but isn't all the stuff in her office "trophies" from high-profile pruned variants? maybe she took care of her own variant at one point. she already is all-in on the kool-aid drinking when it comes to the TVA so probably she didn't have the same existencial crisis as Loki and Mobius when she found out there were more of her.
3- Kang and the Multiverse confirmation is all well and good Marvel but give Mobius the jet sky ending or we riot.

@Fares - Misdirect or deleted, unnecessary footage. I'm leaning towards misdirect. I remember during the investors conference Feige showed a shot of what looked like 1970's NYC and played it off as if that was for the how, saying the premise was Loki traveling through important time periods causing havoc.

In a way, that's true, just not in the context he presented it.

@Spidey91 - no to the second one. She may be all in on whatever the tva needs, but she didn't know about the tva being comprised of variants until mobius brought it to her attention.

@Fares - I think those scenes were meant to be shown when Kang made an offer to Loki, like as a vision, but that they cut these to focus on his speech

Just realized that I'd lost track of what Renslayer was doing at the end of the episode. She was following Miss Minutes lead who was answering to Immortus, so Renslayer could actually be Immortus trump card in season 2
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 7/14/2021, 8:39 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - That's what confused me. Miss Minutes gave Sylvie and Loki an ultimatum where they could get a reality in which they co-exist with the Avengers defeated and a throne. But then "He" told them they could either kill him or run the TVA. I was like "Wait....is Miss Minutes working for someone else and did she try to stop Loki and Sylvie from finding out the truth?" It was very interesting.

OmegaDaGrodd - 7/14/2021, 8:40 AM
@SonOfAGif - Damn, I didn't even pick up on that. That's actually pretty interesting, like maybe there's Immortus/Kang, the TVA and then Miss Minutes running interference between the 2 of them essentially running her own operation
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 7/14/2021, 8:47 AM
@OmegaDaGrodd - I think Miss Minutes works for the Evil Kang. And her purpose was to gather all the Intel on Immortus's universe so Evil Kang knows who the threats are when he invades.
Havenless

@SonOfAGif - I think it was just a test, Kang already knew they’d say no

I guess she'll find a dead He Who Remains and a Sylvie with a bloody sword. Wonder how that fight's gonna go (and if Miss Minutes is intervere)
Repian
Repian - 7/14/2021, 7:55 AM
Perhaps Miss Minutes remembers the events leading up to the death of Immortus. Perhaps her database is safe in Immortus's castle. So she could be part of the solution if she helps Loki in season two. She can reveal the truth to Mobius
Repian
Repian - 7/14/2021, 8:12 AM
@Repian - Maybe the Miss Minutes database is inside a pocket watch. So Loki will travel the multiverse with Miss Minutes in his pocket. They will be inseparable.

The writing team of this series was sensational and Herron as a director was amazing. Give Michael Waldron all the multi-verse things because he absolutely fantastic, jesus.

Everyone would be wired a little strange had they too lived alone at the end of time and only talked to Miss Minutes for eons lol

@PantherKing - I expected it, and it still surprised me. Miss Minutes gonna be there to haunt your dreams
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 7/14/2021, 8:23 AM
@PantherKing - Marvel trolling the people who thought the big bad was actually Miss Minutes by giving her a jump scare entrance in the castle.
PantherKing
PantherKing - 7/14/2021, 8:05 AM
So I got a theory. Sylvie’s nexus event was her killing He who remains so the TVA tried to prune her when she was a kid and that goes horribly therefore setting her on her nexus event path
Fares
Fares - 7/14/2021, 8:12 AM
@PantherKing - I think that Sylvie's existence by itself as a female Loki was somehow just too radical of a change from the sacred Timeline that her branch would ultimately diverge into creating a new Kang. And he who remains just can't have that. Besides, he offered her the choice to kill him, he didn't stop her, he accepted it.
bkmeijer2
bkmeijer2 - 7/14/2021, 8:14 AM
@PantherKing - I'll stick forever to Endgame's rules, so I believe there are no timeloops.

What @Fares is saying makes the most sense in my opinion. Timelines or people are only getting pruned if that has the potential to lead to Kang turning out evil.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 7/14/2021, 8:25 AM
@Fares - I think Sylvie's Nexus event was a little bit more subtle. rememeber when she was a little girl in Asgard? she was playing with Valkyrie toys, she was acting out being a hero. maybe she had less mischievous tendencies as her other counterparts.
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 7/14/2021, 8:42 AM
@PantherKing - No. Sylvie never had a Nexus event. She was just a pawn for He who remained. He said it himself "I know everything that is, was, and has happened." Then when he said "I didn't expect the one who would replace would come in two". He fully wanted Sylvie to kill him to cause a multiverse war. It was our Loki who created a 50% possibility of a new timeline.
Fares
Fares - 7/14/2021, 8:42 AM
@Spidey91 - If that's true, then it is tragically ironic.
Spidey91
Spidey91 - 7/14/2021, 8:50 AM
@Fares - and there it is your gravitas for the character: in the process of pruning a Loki variant for not being the norm they created their own undoing by making her just as any other Loki.
HeavyMetal4Life
HeavyMetal4Life - 7/14/2021, 8:51 AM
@PantherKing - I really like that theory. But, Immortus said that he had basically been guiding Loki and Sylvie on their paths to him.
Havenless
Havenless - 7/14/2021, 9:10 AM
@PantherKing - He said her killing him was beyond the timeline he could see.

I think her nexus event was simply Kang selecting her as his successor
LilJimmy
LilJimmy - 7/14/2021, 8:31 AM
So before Sylvia killed Immortus, when he suddenly no longer was able to see everything, and the timeline began to branch off, that had something to do with Renslayer’s mission for “free will”? Or did I miss something else?
LSHF
LSHF - 7/14/2021, 10:04 AM
@LilJimmy - Good question (to which I have no answer). I think many of us are going to need to see it again to answer some of the questions. And, as usual of late, the questions we can't find answers to will be eventual answered by the director and writer in interviews (like the ones from this article).
