Marvel's TIGRA AND DAZZLER Animated Series Has Been Shelved Amid Major Creative Overhaul

Marvel's Tigra and Dazzler Show was one of four adult-oriented animated series being developed for Hulu, but we're now hearing that it's been put "on pause" because of some major creative changes...

Early last month, it was announced that Marvel was developing animated shows for Hulu which would focus on relatively obscure characters M.O.D.O.K., Hit-Monkey, Howard the Duck, and Tigra & Dazzler. Now, it sounds like the latter may have hit a pretty big road block.

According to THR, Tigra and Dazzler Show's entire writing team - including showrunner Erica Rivinoja - have been fired following major creative differences with Marvel. Apparently, Rivinoja and her team had completed multiple scripts and outlines for others, and were 15 weeks into a planned 20-week production cycle.

It sounds like both Marvel and Hulu still intend to move forward with the show at some point, however, because plans are reportedly in place to hire a new showrunner and have them build their own writing team as part of a larger creative overhaul.

Production on the other three shows remains on track, and the plan is still for the four of them to crossover in The Offenders down the line.

• M.O.D.O.K. centers around an egomaniacal supervillain with a really big head and a really little body, who struggles to maintain control of his evil organization and his demanding family. Writers Jordan Blum and Patton Oswalt will also executive produce.

• Hit-Monkey tells the tale of a wronged Japanese snow monkey, mentored by the ghost of an American assassin, as he cuts a wide swath through the Tokyo underworld in this darkly cinematic and brutally funny revenge saga. Writers Josh Gordon and Will Speck will executive produce.

• Tigra & Dazzler Show is a story about two woke superheroes and best friends, Tigra and Dazzler, as they fight for recognition among powered people who make up the eight million stories in Los Angeles. Writers Erica Rivinoja and Chelsea Handler serve as executive producers.

• Howard the Duck is trapped in a world he never made, but America’s favorite fighting fowl hopes to return home with the help of his unstoppable gal pal Beverly before the evil Dr. Bong can turn him the crispiest dish on the menu. Writers Kevin Smith and Dave Willis will also executive produce.

• The Offenders follows MODOK, Dazzler, Tigra, Hit Monkey and Howard the Duck as they are all forced to team up in order to save the world and certain parts of the universe.

"... were 15 weeks into a planned 20-week production cycle."

They must've REALLY NOT LIKED what they had, to fire them this close to the finish line.

Well if it sucked it sucked. Better to start over than put out something nobody wants to see.

That synopses sounds horrible, so I'm okay with this. I mean, a show based in LA? Gross.

GOOD! Anything with Chelsea Handler attached to it is a dud! She's not funny at all.

Good, it was the least appealing of the ones they announced.

I really wanna see that M.O.D.O.K. series come to fruition.

I really hope they don't cancel the Kevin Smith shows. Really liked the M.O.D.O.K pitch so at the very least I hope that sticks through.
