MOON KNIGHT And SHE-HULK Head Writers Revealed; Credits Include RICK & MORTY And FANTASTIC FOUR

The Moon Knight and She-Hulk TV shows have made their first creative developments since being announced at D23, and it's clear that Marvel Studios isn't holding back when it comes to hiring A-List talent.

The Hollywood Reporter reveals that Jessica Gao has been hired as the head writer for Marvel's She-Hulk. Her name may not be instantly familiar, but it should be because she won an Emmy for her work on Rick & Morty (specifically the amazing "Pickle Rick" episode). Gao has also written episodes of Silicon Valley and the pilot episode of ABC's Lazy Rich Asians

In related news, Jeremy Slater is set to serve as Moon Knight's head writer.

He developed and created Netflix's adaptation of The Umbrella Academy and is no stranger to the world of comic books. He's credited as a co-writer on the 2015 Fantastic Four reboot, but, in fairness, much of what was in the script didn't really end up on screen after those extensive reshoots. He has a lot of credits to his name, though, including Death Note and TV's The Exorcist

Now, we can expect to see both She-Hulk and Moon Knight begin to take shape, as Marvel Studios should start looking for directors and then the actors who will play these characters on Disney+.

Staty tuned for updates.

Damn! This is some REAL TALENT.

Love both Umbrella and Rick & Morty.

Getting Slater is really impressive. Umbrella Academy was quietly one of the best shows of the year.

@BlackBeltJones - personally had a lot of issues with the first season of UA, it was fine and all but could have been so much better. But Five hands down was a standout and terrific all around.

Rick & Morty talent, yes.
UA and 2015's FF, no.

I was bored the first 2 episodes but as the season went on and I really enjoyed it. Some of the best stuff I watched this year but I can see how some would find it just okay.

@BlackBeltJones - I tried to get through UA, and just couldn't do it.

@BlackBeltJones - so far this year, the best season from any show I've watched has been Yellowstone S2. Like a 9.7/10 season. I think I gave UA a 7.8/10.

@BlackBeltJones - If you take the fun part out of Doom Patrol then you're left with TUA. I couldn't even finish the last 4 episode. Man it was painful.

"she won an Emmy for her work on Rick & Morty (specifically the amazing "Pickle Rick" episode"

We don't have this debate on here often but toxic fanbase aside, Rick and Morty is pretty overrated. I enjoyed the first two seasons a lot but for a cartoon that takes a little over 2 years to make a short season of, season 3 was not good. I hope season 4 returns to form a little because it took 2 years and we're only getting 5 episodes for awhile. Just not worth the wait IMO. Also, the Pickle Rick episode became a meme and is world famous now but the actual episode was painful to sit through. The therapist scenes felt like watching paint dry, but animated. K, I'm done now.

@WilliamCipher - Ricklantis was a series high. Almost every other episode was meh, and the season finale with the President felt like a filler episode.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - they need something new to keep the series fresh maybe get Alex Hirsch to do an episode

@WilliamCipher - I totally agree! I was not a fan of Pickle Rick. The toxic fanbase memed the hell out it before it even aired. They acted like it would be the second coming.

@WilliamCipher - Ricklantis was the one true standout episode of S3.

@SpideyPuffsMJ - I think the Pickle Rick episode is actually pretty hard-hitting stuff. I don't get bombarded with Rick and Morty memes like other people do, so I haven't really interacted with their (apparently) toxic fanbase. Maybe that spoils people on the show more than it deserves.

It's not a perfect or extremely smart show, but exposing the deeply childish aspect of Rick's sci-fi adventure escapism where he would literally rather fight off rats as a man in a pickle is sharp stuff. They go for the jugular on how depressing Rick's psychology is quite a lot, too.

Apparently there are assholes who see an asshole of TV as an excuse for being an asshole in real life or online. That sucks, but it doesn't mean the asshole is a bad character or that the show he's in is bad.

Great get for She-Hulk. Pickle Rick’s one of the best Rick and Morty episodes.

I haven’t watched Umbrella Academy, but I have seen Fantastic Four, Death Note and one that wasn’t mentioned on here: The Lazarus Effect, and...

@MUTO123 - It's bad. Not Fant4stic level bad though but pretty bad.

@MUTO123 - I watched the first half or so of Umbrella Academy and it was okay. Not engaging enough I wanted to stick with it.

I assume the comic really leaned into that kind of Grant Morrison-esque "Dark Silver Age" tone, but it only occasionally worked in live-action. I'll just say that I do hope that Feige and his crew are watching over the shoulder here for quality control.

Jeremy Slater wrote NBC's The Exorcist, so I can get behind this.

FANT4STIC wasn't his fault. It got destroyed by the director and the studio clashing with one another. The damn thing wasn't even finished, and ended in the middle of the second act.

I think Moon Knight can be a major superstar character for the MCU

If it's true that they're going to spend 20 million per episode (120 Million /6 episodes)

Then the sky is the limit with this character

You can even have him cameo in the Blade movie after his show

Such an EPIC time
