We only just found out that Oscar Isaac is in final talks to play the lead role of Marc Spector in Disney+'s Moon Knight, and it's now being reported that the highly-anticipated Marvel series has found a director.
According to Deadline, Egyptian filmmaker Mohamed Diab has been tapped to helm the show. The trade doesn't specify how many episodes he'll direct, however.
Diab garnered great acclaim for his directorial debut Cairo 678 and its follow-up Clash, which both focused on elements of political and cultural unrest in his home country. His next film, Amira, is scheduled to be released in 2021.
Jeremy Slater (The Umbrella Academy; The Exorcist) will serve as showrunner, and is leading the show's writing team.
No official synopsis for Moon Knight has been revealed yet, but the small-screen adaptation is expected to stick pretty close to the basic premise of the comic, with Marc Spector, a highly skilled mercenary who has numerous alter egos, channelling the power of the Egyptian moon god Khonshu to fight crime in LA.
We still don't have a timeframe for the start of production, but with a star and director now in place, it shouldn't be too much longer before we begin to get some official updates.
