MOON KNIGHT Head Writer Confirms The Premiere Featured A Key Comic Book Cameo We All Missed

Moon Knight Head Writer Jeremy Slater has taken to Twitter to confirm that one of the characters introduced in the premiere was, in fact, someone with ties to one of the hero's personalities in the comics.

We've been told that Moon Knight won't include classic members of the character's comic book supporting cast, but the premiere actually featured one of them hiding in plain sight (and we're not talking about Duchamp). After an eagle-eyed fan spotted "Crawley" in the show's credits, Head Writer Jeremy Slater confirmed that Shaun Scott was indeed playing Bertrand Crawley.

Portrayed as a sounding board for Steven Grant in the episode, this Crawley was painted up as a golden living statue somewhere in London. In the comic books, however, he first appeared in the pages of Marvel Spotlight #28 and was an informant for the unhinged Fist of Khonshu.

He'd usually lend a helping hand to Jake Lockley, guiding him through New York City's underworld. He was something of a flamboyant character, but we have a feeling this was meant to be a simple Easter Egg rather than a tease for a massive Crawley reveal in a future episode! Then again, with no sign of Jake in Moon Knight as of yet, some surprises could still be heading our way.

There will always be fans disappointed to see Marvel Studios take a character like this and turn them into an Easter Egg, but if Crawley has a legion of supporters, it would be news to us!

Speculation continues to run rampant that Jake will join Marc Spector and Steven in Moon Knight, though given how the latter has been reinterpreted, we don't know what to expect if it happens. On the page, he was a street smart cabbie who kept his ear to the ground in the Big Apple (you can't bank on the MCU following suit, as Steven was originally a Wall Street whiz and not a gift shop employee).

Slater is lying. This is damage control. It's obvious. They needed some easter eggs for the fans, so they added this as a last minute change

@Pampero - There were other easter eggs so they didn't depend on just this one. Did anyone pick up the Dr. Doom one? Actually there might have been two of them but not sure about the second one.

@Mugens - The castle?

@Pampero - When the Steven Grant persona was driving that van getting away from the bad guys, one of the boxes directly behind him read Von Do.., and then was cut off by his head or seat. But yeah the Castle and the twisty road leading away from it was the second one I was thinking about. Looks like it is right out of the comics.

I really loved the first episode and this is a nice easter egg!

Wish Marvel would give their series a little bit more room to breathe, though.

For example, slowing down the pacing of the opening, longer shots of his apartment, more close-ups of his face, and so on... to be able to take everything in and really mesmerise yourself into the world.

I read somewhere that the director had to fight to keep that incredible restaurant scene in. Those kind of scenes are needed for series like Moon Knight.

I kinda have the feeling that Marvel produces its series like movies, which isn't right in my humble opinion.

Does that even count like a cameo?

Was anything meant by the "Scotty" reference? (i.e., the security guard kept calling him Scotty). Does anyone know what that is supposed to mean?

"Cameo we all missed"

Yeah, sure. It's not like Every. Single. Recap/easter egg video I've for the first episode mentioned this exact thing.

Long-haired old man -yeah, I figured out that was a Crawley easter egg. Just hope that this isn't the only time we see him. A street mime hidden in plain sight would be a perfect informant. But the show is so supernatural that I don't know how he will fit into the overall picture if there isn't a Jake Lockley persona. Still hoping one of the big reveals is there is a third human persona to Moon Knight. But it's possible Jake Lockley has been sacrificed to bring Mr. Knight as an alter instead.

But man, it will be so cool to see Crawley again and the next time he breaks character and speaks back to Steven. Would love it if Crawley was somewhat tweaked to be also supernatural to fit the tone of the series.

I just realized at the Moon Knight Red Carpet premiere there was an old Caucasian actor pictured with the rest of the cast. Was this actor the street mime character? If so, that could imply we see him later in the series.

Of course, it may mean nothing since the actor who played Derek Bishiop in Hawkeye attended the Hawkeye Red Carpet and he only appeared in the 1st episode.
