MOON KNIGHT: Here's What Marc Spector Was Up To During The Blip (And Who Asked That Tour Guide On A Date)

Moon Knight Head Writer Jeremy Slater has revealed where Marc Spector was during The Blip, while also sharing his take on who was responsible for asking that tour guide in the museum out on a date...

While Marvel Studios has definitely addressed the fallout from The Blip in its Phase 4 movies and TV shows, it hasn't been in the way many fans expected. For the most part, that traumatic five-year gap between Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame has been glossed over, so it's no wonder fans have been curious about what some of the newly introduced characters were doing during that period.

We've had some answers, in fairness, such as Hawkeye's reveal that Yelena Belova was among those turned to dust. When it comes to Marc Spector, though, did he survive Thanos' Snap?

"In the writers room, we all collectively thought he survived the Blip, that he wasn’t blipped away," Moon Knight Head Writer Jeremy Slater told The Direct during a recent interview. "I think if he had been blipped and come back, it would be something that you would have to address. So we all kind of collectively assumed that he was part of the 50% that survived."

"[They] say in the show that Steven basically woke up about two years ago. That was the first time that they started living separate lives, and it was following the death of Marc’s mother. In the same way that Hawkeye had his hands full as Ronin because the criminal underworld was running rampant during the Blip time, I assume Moon Knight was keeping very busy. It was all being done in the shadows, and he was sort of taking out a lot of threats that never surfaced or saw the light of day."

In a separate conversation with ComicBook.com, Slater was quizzed about who asked that museum tour guide on a date in the first episode. As you may recall, Steven Grant had no recollection of this and we ended up assuming it must have been Marc. However, having seen the show, it's a little hard to believe he would interfere in Steven's life when he was trying to protect him from the truth.

"I think it has to be [Jake Lockley]," Slater confesses. "Marc doesn't necessarily make sense if he's trying to protect Steven from his life. It doesn't necessarily make sense that he would also be hitting on his coworkers. So for me, yeah, that has to be Jake. But your guess is as good as mine."

We have a few questions after watching Moon Knight, but many are unlikely to be answered until the character returns either in a movie or for a second batch of episodes on Disney+.

Makes sense for it to be Jake Lockley as a character, what bugs me is that I don't see the Spanish-speaking Lockley bothering to imitate Steven's accent. The tour guide would've definitely noticed something wrong or different with him.

@Pssst - Maybe he played it as him doing a goofy impersonation of a "sexy latina."

“But your guess is as good as mine.“

I don’t like it when people as high up as head writer or showrunner throw out answers like this. It really diminishes what fans imagine to be an intricately plotted show.

The Jack Lockley reveal was badly done, the reveal should have been done within the episode and not after the credits

@pyramosteu - The majority of the world disagrees.

It clearly wasn't steven, and marc doesn't really look like the kind of guy that would take some time off to ask a woman out, especially since he's married and he cares about layla, so the only one left is jake. Unless khonshu decided to take matters into his own hands, possess the body and try to live the life for a day.

is the head writer purposely being vague to stir chatter or did the people creating this world really not account for such huge questions. i feel every show and movie in the mcu while they shouldn't necessarily devote large amounts of time to the blip..they should have a rock steady answer as to how it affected their character. why doesn't the writer know who asked her out on the date? he or someone under him wrote that and he obviously approved it. by the way i love the show so i am not hating on it. im just baffled by how this guy is answering these questions.

I loved Moon Knight but I can see some areas where things could’ve been executed better. The Jake Lockley reveal was cool but I agree with other people saying it should’ve been done in the episode and not tacked on as an after credit scene. The set up throughout the show led me to believe we’d see one more iteration of moon knight in the finale but when he blacked out again, I’ll admit I was a bit let down. That said, still remains my favorite Disney Plus marvel show next to Loki. Hope we get a season 2 announcement soon!

@thelastson18 - The opposite is when you wait thru the credits for something with minor impact. I loved this being an end credit scene! They teased him throughout the show then at the last minute gave us a sneak peek.

And you with the MCU this usually equates to foreshadowing.

@Tonic24k - fair enough! I thought this show was done extremely well. I’m just happy we are getting frickin Moon Knight content at all! One of my favorite characters

@thelastson18 - Same! I would've loved a litte more MK action but being an origin story, I appreciated the deep psychological exposé we got. From a writing standpoint I thought the show was brilliant.

NOW...we just need to see a fully developed character show up in other shows/films doing his thing! And S2 would be great
