MOON KNIGHT Star Oscar Isaac Appears To Confirm The Disney+ Show Is A "Limited Series"

Loki is the only Marvel Studios TV series on Disney+ to receive a second season, and comments from Oscar Isaac have indicated that Moon Knight will be a "limited series" akin to WandaVision. Check it out!

Variety has shared an "Actors on Actors" segment with Moon Knight and Dune star Oscar Isaac sitting down to talk with Morbius and House of Gucci's Jared Leto. Discussing their respective comic book roles, Isaac admitted that he wasn't familiar with Marc Spector before the part was offered to him, and referred to the upcoming show as a "limited series."

"I'd never heard of 'Moon Knight' before, and I collected comics when I was younger," he recalled. "I'd heard of 'Morbius,' but I’d never heard of 'Moon Knight.' I don't know how the process was for you, because it's a feature film, we’re a limited series."

Moon Knight being a limited series doesn't necessarily mean Isaac will be finished with the Marvel Cinematic Universe after the show concludes. Just like The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was a one-off meant to establish new status quos for Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes while setting up Captain America 4, i's likely this series will set the stage for bigger things for 'ol Moony moving forward.

As for the advantages of telling Moon Knight's story in a TV show rather than movie, Isaac added: "There was a lot of room to try stuff because there wasn’t the pressure that we got to make sure we make however many hundreds of millions of dollars on the opening weekend."

"So we could make it very point-of-view. We could make very weird decisions," the actor teased. "At the moment, at least - and I don’t imagine it’s going to go backwards - it feels like that’s where more of the risk is being taken because it can financially."

It sounds like we're in for a wild ride with this one, and we hope to see more soon.

Moon Knight premieres on Disney+ on March 30.

I guess Limited Series isn't saying much though. The Sinner also started out as one (I know, not Marvel), and thats in its fourth season now.

Even if it is though, it's definitely not the last we'll see of him. Really wanna see him in a Midnight Sons show

Not surprising. Most of these Disney+ shows, with exception to What If and Loki, are limited series. It seems Fiege as a film producer is approaching most of these like long movies rather than conventional shows with traditional seasons.

This means nothing. Limited Series means no Second Season planned at time of release. That changes for literally dozens upon dozens upon dozens of shows.

Even big ones like Big Little Lies.

So this means nothing.

@KingLeonidas

Idk about dozens upon dozens…

Eternals following this route would have resulted in folks interested in the rescue efforts of the kidnapped ones. Now idk. I do not think a sequel will be profitable

One of the downsides of Marvel being this successful is that they have the freedom to just try out a character like Moon Knight and see how it goes. If he's popular, they'll build a bigger franchise around him. If he's not super-popular, then he'll probably keep popping up in a supporting role or maybe they just shelve him after a while. I'm really afraid they're doing this with Ms. Marvel (and apparently substantially reworking her just because they want give a venue for her demographic while something about her comic power set isn't workable). The result of "throwing it against the wall to see if it sticks" is stuff like Cloak and Dagger, which was 80 or 90% on its way toward being a great series, but it clearly lacked that institutional commitment.

When they made Iron Man, they needed people to love Iron Man and that kind of hunger, desperation almost, comes through.

Marvel couldn't be hungry like that forever, of course. You either feast (like they did), you starve (like so many failed franchises), or you lower your expectations (like many successful franchises that reliably pull in B-tier box-office returns). You can't be an underdog for long.

Moon Knight is just a franchise that feels to me like it should be made out of desperation, not a trial balloon.

@FortWaba - Damn, and you've been here a long time, too.

I'm not going to lie. That stings.

@Spock0Clock - I was in a very sour mood, I apologize. I really do. I have deleted my comment.

In the spirit of diplomacy, I will say this. I think Moon Knight in the MCU was always a risk, due to the violent and complex nature of Mr. Specter's adventures.

I always expected him to get a TV show, in the vein of Punisher, but I am grateful for D+ every day.

I think Marvel is perfectly positioned to experiment with new characters precisely because of what you mention: any other company would rest on their laurels and ride the wave in comfort, saving these C and D tier characters for a hail-mary moment. I love that this train doesn't stop, and they're not just milking the same characters. I know the D+ shows are a little inconsistent in quality (although I've loved every single one), but what better way to expand the mythos without waiting for movie slots.

I'm ready for this show, 💯.
