MOON KNIGHT Star Oscar Isaac Says There Are "No Official" Plans For A Second Season - SPOILERS

The season(?) finale of Moon Knight is now available to stream on Disney+, and even though the conclusion leaves the door open for more, star Oscar Isaac has reiterated that nothing is official.

Moon Knight was billed as a limited series at first, which obviously suggested that this six-episode run was going to be a one-off. However, recent promos described today's episode as the "season finale," which led to speculation that we may get a second season announcement after it hit Disney+.

That wasn't to be, but "Gods and Monsters" certainly left the door open for the story to continue with the introduction of another of Marc Spector's personas, the ruthless Jake Lockley, in a post-credits scene.

While we will almost certainly see the Fist of Khonshu again at some point (possibly on the big screen), star Oscar Isaac has now made it clear that the show was always conceived as a one-and-done.

“You know, I think we approached it as ‘this is the story’,” the actor told RadioTimes.com. “And let's just put everything out on the table on this story. There’s definitely no official plans to continue it. I think it would depend on what the story is.”

Isaac has previously revealed that he was only under contract to appear in these six episodes, but adds that he loved "being Steven," and would happily reprise the role should the opportunity arise.

"It's just like, physically, it's so much fun to be him. So, you know, if there was a story that really made sense, I'd be happy to be part of it.”

As of now, Loki is the only Disney+ Marvel series to be renewed for a second season. What did you guys think of the final episode of Moon Knight and the series as a whole? Drop us a comment down below.

It’s just weird to me that they don’t want to make more seasons of a tv series. I get that he may appear in future movies. But you literally made a tv series about the character that has loads of potential for more seasons? Eh what do I know. Didn’t they say this about one or more of the other MCU shows as well?

@GirshwinDavies - I think originally it was billed as a mini series but once Marvel Studios saw how great it was doing amongst the streaming service and media they opted to switch it to a a seasonal format. If it was a 6 episode miniseries connected to the MCU it did nothing to add Marc into the greater cosmos. It eliminated his story and left the Jake storyline as a cliffhanger. What was going to explore that? A movie? Another series? Or was Jake going to be Moon Knight going forward? It was way to open ended that a movie or spinoff show maybe with Golden Scarab (Layla) would have to explore. But that could be another Book of Boba Fett all over again.

@GirshwinDavies - Loki was advertised as a limited series and then changed. And Marvel/MK twitter feeds deleted tweets saying "Series finale" to "Season finale".

@GirshwinDavies - yes it is but some tv series may be good and bad no one knows until final episode I guess

@GirshwinDavies - You can't have a series without commitment from the talent and Oscar Issacs doesn't want to be tied down. EOS.

@SonOfAGif - Ah. I see. I guess my whole confusion is with the Jake scene kind of being a cliffhanger to explore more about him? Thanks for your insight.

@SonOfAGif - Lol at first I thought you were giving me examples of why there should be another season and was like yeah I totally see how they could keep going! Exactly! My brain is running on low today lol

@GirshwinDavies - My guess is no on $$ but he could do another one down the road if this one was good for him but it would be his call as much as Disney's.

@BO31 - Won't happen. We said the same with Charlie Cox as Daredevil. These heroes will be a Disney+ exclusive for a long time. They may pop into an Avengers film but no time soon.

@SonOfAGif - lol did you just compare an old divided Netflix, Marvel TV department show to a Feige lead united D+ series?

You jokers aren't even trying anymore. And didn't DD just make a MCU theatrical appereance. Marvel's solidity is going to cause you jokers to start having convulsions soon if you guys don't start getting help

@BO31 - My least favorite Disney Plus show. I don't see it happening has to many issues to be a leader.

@BO31 - You have some severe issues if you think the opinions and discussions of others are going to have mental ramifications on people. I think you should do some self reflecting if you think a comic book website dictates what happens in people's lives. Maybe yours is flirting with insanity.

@BO31 - I totally agree about the best comic show in years. I'd love to see him lead the MCU but only time will tell.
JDL
JDL - 5/4/2022, 11:59 PM
@BO31 - Only one D+ show has been anywhere close to the quality of the Cox DD shows or JJ S1, and that's Loki. That said, all of them are waaay better than the worst of the Netflix shows or ::shudder:: The Inhumans.

But those shows cost something like $2.5-3.0 million per hour to make and D+ costs were 10 times that. So comparisons are tricky.

One good thing about the D+ series is that they are shorter. That gets turn-offs like 5/6ths of Moon Knight out of your system faster.

@tmp3 - it's all subjective. Let someone else enjoy a show/movie even if you didn't

With Blade already announced and semi-introduced, the WBN special later this year, Elsa Bloodstone reportedly joining, and God knows how many rumors about Ghost Rider coming up, are we still treating Midnight Sons as nothing more than a possibility?
SonOfAGif
SonOfAGif - 5/4/2022, 10:28 PM
@DrReedRichards - I feel like Midnight Sons has to be The Avengers of Disney+. It's important for the streaming service to draw in viewers who aren't following the MCU side stories.

If Moon Knight is actually a "one and done" (I doubt it) that would be a real shame. I really enjoyed the show but came out of todays season finale wanting more.

Moon Knight is supposed to be one of the most bad-ass characters in the MCU. Yet, Marvel cut out what could have been the best fight scenes! I really hope they greenlight this for a second, longer season.

If not, I'd throw the "disappointment" label on this one.

@CaptainDC - a longer season would be great. They really need more than 6 episode seasons. I've enjoyed all the shows to varying degrees but they all would've benefited from a couple more episodes

One thing I enjoyed about the finale was the constant shifting between Moon Knight and Mr. Knight during the fight with Harrow. That was inventive.

@GhostDog - I absolutely LOVED the fights in this. The fight choreography was so smooth and hope we see more of it down the line.

Was like watching an Ellis/Declan Shalvey run come to life with the side view like that.
