Moon Knight is coming out in a year that's shaping up to be incredibly exciting for Marvel Studios, but it stands out from the rest of their jam-packed Phase 4 slate by looking entirely different to anything we've seen from the MCU before. Embracing the supernatural side of this world in a huge way, the Disney+ series could quite easily be a game-changer for the MCU as we know it.

Oscar Isaac recently spoke to Empire Magazine (via CBR) and had this to say about the possibility of Marc Spector returning in a possible second season. "It depends on whether people see the freakin’ show first. If they see it, then maybe we'll see more Moon Knight," the actor teased. "But I love playing him. Particularly Steven. I hope I get to visit him again. I love him so much. I feel he's someone real, who lives in the world. It's been a long time since I felt that kind of connection."

Isaac has previously referred to Moon Knight as a "limited series," but that doesn't mean the character won't go on to become a key part of the MCU on both the big and small screens.

Without seeing the show, it's hard to make any predictions about what the hero's future could look like, but it sounds like we can forget about him becoming a Batman-style vigilante. Moon Knight Head Writer Jeremy Slater insists that the plan is to focus on what makes Moony unique in his own right (plus, that's a role Daredevil is likely to take on protecting the streets of Hell's Kitchen).

"We've seen that side of Moon Knight [in some comics] as a playboy philanthropist, throwing moon-shaped boomerangs, flying around in a moon-shaped plane, but I don't think that's the coolest possible version of the character," the writer said, hinting that we'll be sticking with supernatural stories. That's not a bad thing, of course, but might disappoint those hoping for the vigilante version!

Moon Knight swoops onto Disney+ on March 30.

The supernatural aspect colliding with the psychological has always been what’s most interesting

The Huston run would greatly suggest that Khonshu was often times more akin to a cosmic horror trying to get an entry point into our world rather than a traditional marvel god. This thing preyed on Marc’s mental instability to do so. I always thought that was interesting

Moon Knight is often compared to Batman so the show will be wise to stick to the multiple personality and Egyptian mythology angle.

Never really understood the comparisons beyond just the superficial things like his wealth or gadgets when Moon Knight didn't suffer a tragedy in his childhood and the weights he carries are his dissociative identity disorder mixed with Konshu's presence among all of it. He also isn't brooding like Batman.

only WandaVision and The Falcon and The Winter Soldier were limited series due to how they changed the characters' status quo so I doubt Moon Knight's origin story will be just a standalone adventure.

""It depends on whether people see the freakin’ show first. If they see it, then maybe we'll see more Moon Knight"

I will watch this season 10 million times so we get a 2nd season, don't worry Oscar.

Sounds good! Looks like he won't be "mentally fit" before the end of the season if Isaac's talks about the possibility of playing Steven in the future. Was afraid they might drop the entire being crazy aspect and turn him into a regualar Marvel hero to root for.

@Lokiwasright - calling the Midnight Sons the Dark Avengers is definitely something I can see happen.

Also, I'd like to add Doctor Strange and Werewolf-by-Night to the list

Seeing how he has a very unique armor and the whole split personality thing, I guessed so this wasn't gonna be anything like Batman. And maybe not in a second season, but I already wanna see more of him.

As for a Batman clone (and a Superman clone), I kinda hope we get the Squadron Supreme one day too. Think it would be cool if they're the primary defenders of Earth in a Secret Wars battleworld.

This show is the most excited I’ve been about an MCU show and it looks genuinely good. I can’t wait.

I like Moon Knight when he's being sort of Batman².

All of those rules about Batman (no killing, no guns, he never gives up, prep-time, the socialite façade) can get bent and broken by Moon Knight. There are other characters that can serve as interesting Batman pastiches, but I think it's a mistake to be too afraid of the comparison.

A good Moon Knight adaptation shouldn't intentionally avoid "Batman stuff" in the same way that a good Batman shouldn't avoid Daredevil stuff or the Shadow stuff or whatever it is. All of these characters coexist in a complex narrative and thematic ecosystem, and sometimes there are opportunities to explore overlapping niches.
