Oscar Isaac Wants To See MOON KNIGHT Join The MIDNIGHT SONS In The MCU

After starring as Marc Spector aka Moon Knight and Steven Grant aka Mr. Knight in the Disney+ MCU Series, Oscar Isaac has a few ideas for where the Khonshu avatar should turn up next.

Will Moon Knight ever return to the MCU?

As the MCU grows and expands, there is a growing tendency for characters to fall by the wayside for a significant amount of time.

Case in point, the Moon Knight miniseries premiered on March 30, 2022, and concluded on May 4 after six episodes. Since then, there hasn't been much chatter about where Oscar Isaac's Marc Spector/Steven Grant could turn up next.

Speaking to The Geek House Show, Isaac shared that while Marvel Studios may have its own plans, he definitely has his own desires for where the character could and should turn up next.

Said Isaac:

"I thought there was an interesting opportunity with Midnight Sons. There’s such interesting characters in there, and now that we’ve set the groundwork with learning who Marc, Steven, Jake are, it could be an interesting opportunity to see him as part of a team and what that dynamic would be. So I think that would be exciting, I think for me, I definitely hope there’s some room to explore that possibility."

Despite what the 2022 tactical role-playing game developed by Firaxis Games would have you believe, the typical core Midnight Sons lineup consists of Blade, Morbius, Ghost Rider, and  Hannibal King as key team members. Doctor Strange typically bounces back and forth between being an actual team member and an advisor.

With an  86% approval rating on Rotten Tomatoes and an aggregate score of  7.65/10 from over 200 reviews, Moon Knight is actually one of the more favorably reviewed Marvel Disney+ series to date. It's somewhat surprising that a second season hasn't been announced.

The key detail on Moon Knight's future might be the fact that in order for Marvel to secure Isaac, he balked at the usual practice of signing a contract that required multiple appearances. In October 2022 at New York Comic Con, Isaac confirmed that he'd begun having talks with Marvel about more appearances but an official agreement has never been announced.

Of course, with Disney CEO Bob Iger's recent comments regarding his desire to see Marvel reduce its number of projects and focus on its strongest franchises, it's anyone's guess as to what will fall by the wayside, particularly in regards to Marvel's Disney+ output.

Where do you think Moon Knight will turn up next? Will he be a supporting character in another, main MCU hero's project, or will he receive a second season? There's also the possibility that he might not show up again until The Kang Dynasty Avengers 5 or Avengers: Secret Wars

Everybody wants midnight sons seemingly except for Marvel (unless its in their long term plans). This movie would sell with no promotion

You have Dr strange, blade, and ghost rider which are household names. Then you have Isaac playing moon knight. And "real king of the north" playing black knight. Also Elsa was a great standout in werewolf by night. The movie is high profile

Where the hell is the Metal Gear Solid movie?

@HammerLegFoot - Until they hire a guy who can direct, I hope it stays that way.

@HammerLegFoot - I had the misfortune of watching skull island in the cinema, I was with family but I haven't wanted to walk out of a film since I saw the Spirit. The dude can make some cool trailer shots but that guy has no idea how to create immersion. Big fan of metal gear but immediately lost interest after they got him for it.

Cool but I'd rather see Oscar Isaac actually play Moon knight first and not whoever that dude was in the TV show

@HashTagSwagg - He was multiple dudes in that TV show and did a brilliant job in the role.

@Tonic24k - and not one of them where the characters we saw in the books. I ain't trashing his performance, it's how he was written that I have an issue with.

@HashTagSwagg - 100% agree Oscar is a fantastic actor but this take on MK is so far removed it might as well be a new character, should have been Marc on 24/7 with his butler ripping faces. The mummy look didnt work for me either.

This how things should have gone after endgame

-Phase 4 and 5 build up new avengers and skrulls to culminate in avengers: secret invasion
-phase 4 and 5 also build up midnight sons characters (which they actually have been doing)
- phase 5 and 6 focus on street level with spiderman and daredevil and Kingpin as the big bad (which it kinda seems like they're doing)
- on the cosmic end focus on how God's are actually assholes. They touched on this in thor4 and eternals and moon knight. But it has to go somewhere. I hope they keep pulling on this thread. It's a fun direction to go
- use capt marvel, Shang chi, cap America falcon, dr sttange, and she hulk to build up multiverse stuff and Kang

I guess they've in some way been doing everything I've said. But they dropped the ball sith secret Invasion. That shit could have been massive

@Vigor - Secret Invasion is a cool storyline but I don't think it warrants 2 whole phases in it, maybe one phase. Plus, multiverse as a concept is really good, problem has been execution.

@Urubrodi - I don't mean to imply every movie/show in two phases is about skrulls. I mean to plant seeds throughout 2 phases. Skrull here. Skrull there. A reveal here or there. Instead all of the skrull stuff happened in one tv show. We did get nick fury as a skrull in spiderman far from home. But there should have been more teasers that skrulls were infiltrating. And it should have culminated in a movie (first assembling of new avengers), NOT a TV show with no repercussions coming out of it

@Vigor - I would've liked to see the Master of Evil, but I guess that's not far off with Thunderbolts showing up soon. As for the whole saga though, I would've gone:

- Phase 4: Avengers Masters of Evil, and a tv show based on Secret Invasion
- Phase 5: Avengers Kang Dynasty, and a tv show based on Dark Reign (building off of Masters of Evil)
- Phase 6: Avengers Secret Wars Part 1 & 2, and a tv show based on Siege

Think the street-level stuff shouldn't be tied to one phase (like I propose with the Skrulls above), but instead be this overarching story like they're kinda doing now with Hawkeye, Echo, Daredevil and hopefully Spider-Man.

@bkmeijer1 - that all sounds delicious

@Vigor - I'm still hoping for Dark Reign and Siege to be adapted. Dark Reign could feature Osborn and Hercules, and Siege could feature Thor again

Midnight Sons needs to be a priority. Blade, Ghost Rider, Elsa, Man Thing, Werewolf by Night, and Moon Knight.

If this happens, it needs to be so epic, that we can forget the sh!tty MoonKnight D+ show.

MCU could’ve already started the midnight sons without even needing to involve them with Avengers. But less is more and it’s easier to talk about it than to produce it.

Reboot Moon Knight with the same actor. Oscar Isaac deserves way better material than that hot trash given to him.

So do I. Even think they should make it one of the teams in Secret Wars. Him, Blade, Black Knight, a Ghost Rider, Werewolf, Man-Thing and Elsa lead by Doctor Strange would be pretty cool. Knowing the MCU, they probably relegate that to a What If

I really didnt like that we got more of that hippo than Moon Knight in the moon knight show

I'm down for it. I want more teams showcased in the MCU.
