RUMOR MILL: It Sounds Like Marvel Studios' MOON KNIGHT TV Series Is Eyeing Keanu Reeves As The Lead

Some new casting details for Moon Knight reveal the sort of actor Marvel Studios is looking for to play Marc Spector, and it appears John Wick star Keanu Reeves could be at the top of Kevin Feige's list...

The Illuminerdi is reporting that that Marvel Studios is planning to begin production on Moon Knight as soon as late November. The site has also shared a casting breakdown for Marc Spector/Moon Knight and, surprisingly, it sounds like the studio wants an actor between the ages of 40 - 50.

We say "surprisingly" because Marvel Studios tends to cast young, but it will definitely be fun seeing an older superhero in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, especially one as unique as this!

The site has also shared a lengthy character breakdown for the MCU's Moon Knight:

"Spector was a former pugilist, mercenary, and CIA agent. He’s double-crossed by his boss, Raoul Bushman, after they find a mysterious archaeological site, which Bushman planned to loot for his own selfish means. Near death, Spector comes into contact with Khonshu, an Egyptian moon god, who offers him another chance to live, in return for becoming his avatar on this world. Spector accepts the deal and is reborn with superhuman powers. He then returns to the U.S. and accumulates immense wealth after investing his earnings as a mercenary and becomes the crimefighter known as 'Moon Knight.'

"Spector also created multiple identities, including the alias of millionaire Steven Grant to misdirect people from his mercenary history and Jake Lockley, a low-key taxicab driver that helps him keep a closer ear to the streets and criminal elements."

Here's where things get really interesting, though. The site notes that Keanu Reeves is the top of Marvel Studios' wish list to play Moon Knight! There have been rumblings that he's been in talks with the studio about various projects since before Captain Marvel was released, and the actor would surely be a fan-favourite choice to suit up as the Fist of Khonshu.

We'll have to wait and see as those Alison Brie/Alison Brie-type reports about She-Hulk never went anywhere, and this is definitely just a rumour for the time being.

What do you guys think?

@Godzillakartt -
They got to create some rumours to distract Disney investors from the fact that Disney is losing millions per day on theme parks and constant film delays.

I like Reeves, but I don't think he fits Moon Knight at all. If they're going for someone in their 40s-50s (was expecting Marc to be a lot younger...), Sacha Baron Cohen could be good. I know he's mostly done comedic work, but he's meant to be pretty great in the new Sorkin film in a more dramatic role. He can pack on muscle too

I would prefer for them to go with someone younger, though

@tmp3 - SBC was fantastic in Sweeney Todd, and I think it’s precisely because he’s done mostly comedic work. I think of Jamie foxx as Ray Charles, dude was so good at chewing the scenery as a high pitched blind dude that moved his head a lot because he himself was a goofy cross eyed little class clown nitwit, traceable back to the In Living Color days. Parody is overacting, and many times the best acting, is overacting. You’d think Jack Nicholson was a comedian!

Yeah, I just don't think Reeves has it in him to play multiple and varied roles, and at it's heart Moon Knight is about a dude that does just that. Reeves works best for roles that are written specifically for his method.

Keunu is great, but his action roles tend to be somewhat stoic. That works for a character like John Wick, but Moon Knight isn't simply just a badass crimefighter and charismatic playboy Marc Spector, he also has bunch of other secret identities/personalaties. I don't think Keunu has the range as an actor for a role like that.

Plus, he frankly is too old.

I like Keanu, but this guy TRULY needs to be Moon Knight:
