It's Not Dead Yet! FX Still Moving Ahead With POWERS Adaptation

Once called the most, "difficult an adaptation as I've ever worked on," by FX head John Landgraf, work is still (slowly) moving ahead on the small screen adaptation! There's no word on when the network will film another pilot, but hit the jump for an update on its current status.

Work was originally moving ahead rather quickly on Powers (the small screen adaptation of the Brian Michael Bendis and Michael Avon Oeming series). With a cast in place which included Jason Patric and Lucy Punch, a pilot was shot last year, but quickly rejected by FX head honcho John Landgraf. With Charles Eglee brought in for a rewrite, those cast in the series moved on to other projects and plans were put in place to start over with a new cast. That's all we've heard for a while, but now Variety reports that the project isn't dead just yet. There aren't currently any solid details on when the network will reshoot the pilot, but it has NOT been scrapped despite recent speculation. It's hoped that Landgraf will offer a slightly more concrete update during his talk at the Television Critics Association tour this Saturday.

Ridiculously hopeful for this show to happen. I haven't picked up an issue in ages, but I used to have this book in my pull. Loved it.

The only thing they have to be careful about is having it look like a cop show,I know it is basically that with capes, but it is not just that.
Its a wonderful set of books.

I have faith in FX, and they're very conscious about not repeating themselves. this is the network that passed up Braking Bad, simply because they had too many male anti-heroes on the network already. This book deserves a shot on the networks, and the creators really deserve this kind of success as well
