It was announced in October that Gossip Girl co-creator Josh Schwartz was in talks to adapt Misfits for a US audience. Clerkenwell Films, the company behind the UK series, has now confirmed that a deal has been struck with Schwartz's Fake Empire production company.

"Josh Schwartz (Gossip Girl, The O.C.) has co-written an American pilot of Misfits with [UK creator] Howard Overman," the company wrote on its website. "Production is anticipated in 2012 / early 2013."

A US broadcaster for the Misfits remake has yet to be confirmed.

A fourth series of the UK original will debut on E4 in late 2012, with three new series regulars being introduced to replace departing stars Iwan Rheon (Simon) and Antonia Thomas (Alisha).

Joe Gilgun recently announced that he will reprise his role as Rudy in the new episodes.

"I'm looking forward to [the next series] 'cos there's going to be some new characters and I think that's a really good thing," said Gilgun. "[It'll give the show] a fresh outlook."

What do you think? Will a US version of the show work? Or will it be Heroes version 2.0?

Actually I think the last season of misfits wasnt up to par, and now that they are mixing up the cast, it doesnt bode well. at least the american one will have a longer season and hopefull a more regular cast. You never know they might pull off a Being Human which, respect to fans of the original, I think the american version is actually a superior show.

I'm not to sure about an American Misfits, but part of me is looking forward to seeing how it turns out. But I can't wait for season 4 of the British series, even though its not gonna be the same without Simon and Alisha, its already bad enough that we don't have Nathan anymore, but Rudy has quickly grown on me.

How can you have aa American version of a show where the premise is Chav Superheroes? There are no Chavs in the States. Nobody even uses the word over there. Remaking awesome Scandavian films two years after their release is one thing, but at least those films are for people too lazy to read subtitles (although they could just watch the dubbed versions), but shows like Misfits, The Office and Being Human are IN ENGLISH! They're FROM ENGLAND! Ahem, 'scuse the caps.

I actually went and watched the first two seasons on Hulu Plus. I thought it was pretty good, but I went in expecting superheroes, not anti-heroes.

After Smallville ended, I was looking for a new live action superhero show to get into. Misfits wasn't really what I was looking for, but I wanted to give it a chance after hearing so many people on here rave about it.

I guess, I went in expecting something else entirely, and that caused me too lose interest. And it sounds like I stopped watching it at the right time too. I mean, they got rid of Nathan, and now, Simon and Alisha? I think that's a huge mistake.

@marvel72 The Office is the only exception IMO.

@DukeAcureds The only characters I would say are chavs are Kelly and Nathan. But it doesn't matter, because I'm not going to bother with the US remake.

The only remade British show that has worked over here, is The Office, which I still watch btw. In my opinion, it was even better than the original version. That is very rare.

Man, I miss the edit button.

@mgeoff88 I went in expecting the same thing but was surprised at how good Misfits was...until series 3, which, having lost Robert Sheehan, was depressingly bad.

I actually like Lauren Socha's character most, but Sheehan's character added so much LIFE to the show.

And changing up the character's powers was cool and all, but they'd hardly even explored the powers they had. Very frustrating.

After hearing about the show for several years, I finally gave in, and I regret it...considering how it went so downhill so fast. Reminded me of No Ordinary Family...Smallville...every DC animated movie since WW...Green Lantern...Dark Knight...Spider-Man 3....sighhh

Why are they doing this? You've already sullied Being Human, Shameless, Skins, and (soon to) Sherlock.

STOP IT, AMERICA.

[frick] all. I still miss Nathan. :*(

I miss Nathan too :*(
However, I am a resident in the States, and I would prefer to keep Misfits with its original England charms. I dont see a any reason to remake it. I am already used to the characters in the show now. To have a whole new cast would be ridiculous.
As far as Shameless and Being Human goes, I absolutely love those shows. So Kudos to England for having taste and talents they only wish they had here in the States!!

I WISH THEY WOULD BRING NATHAN BACK!!! This new Character they have replacing him is not working out for me :(
