Like most Marvel Studios projects, Secret Invasion's plot details remained, well, secret throughout the show's production, but thanks to some revealing set photos and a bit of insider information, we have been able to piece together a few things.

Recently, we learned that Game of Thrones alum Emilia Clarke is most likely playing a version of Abigail Brand, and we now have an intriguing update o the character played by Unbreakable and Animal Kingdom actress Charlayne Woodard.

According to scooper Daniel Richtman (via Patreon), Woodard is actually playing Nick Fury's wife, Priscilla, who will also be introduced as an Agent of S.W.O.R.D.

Fury mentioned that he was married in Captain America: The Winter Soldier, but that's really the only time his family/home life has been referenced in the MCU - and it was generally assumed that he was speaking in code since Steve Rogers' apartment had been bugged!

As far as we know, this particular character didn't originate in the comics, although there's a chance Priscilla could turn out to be a take on Priscilla Lyons, aka Vagabond.

Samuel L. Jackson and Ben Mendelsohn will reprise their roles as Fury and Talos, respectively, and they'll be joined by Kingsley Ben-Adir, Cobie Smulders, and Olivia Colman, who is rumored to be playing an incarnation of Union Jack.

Thomas Bezucha (Let Him Go) and Ali Selim (The Looming Tower) directed the miniseries, which was written by Kyle Bradstreet (Mr. Robot).

No official premiere date has been set, but Secret Invasion is reportedly scheduled to premiere early next year.

This was such a big story in the comics and in the cartoons. And not one single Avenger is in it. So this comes off as more of political figures like mayors, governors, senators, and members of the FBI and Homeland Security being impersonated by radical Skrulls instead of heroes.

@SonOfAGif - my hope is this is something like this, and has a Winter Soldier vibe to it.

@SonOfAGif - Yeeeeahhh, buuuuuuttt, we don’t really know who all is actually in this and how far it’s intended to spread across the MCU, much less what they might be setting up for the future. Considering how big of players the Skrulls have been in the comics over the years, I wouldn’t be surprised if this show is really setting things up for something bigger in the future. I mean, trying to shoehorn the “Secret Invasion” story from the comics in the middle of the Multiverse Saga wouldn’t make sense, BUT they can start it small by focusing mainly on government officials like you mentioned, but then leave it on a cliffhanger where after the main conflict is resolved there is a scene where Hill says something to Fury like “Sir, this may be larger than we thought.” and Fury’s like “How much larger?” and then Hill shows a big monitor with various superheroes populating it, and Fury says “Motherfu-“ before it cuts off. Serious cliffhanger there.

The cool thing about that approach is that it leaves the Skrulls as a threat to be resolved later while the focus is on Kang, but it gives Fury&Co. something to do in the meantime.

@SonOfAGif - Yeah, that makes sense. The trailer looked fantastic though!

@SonOfAGif - I like this spin on it. It could speak a lot to the REAL INFLUENCE being in the halls of power with the suits and not those running around in spandex.

I’m assuming maybe one or two heroes are compromised but I figured the MCU would have to do it’s own take on this story and the way things are idk if they could do it the same as the comics. Makes sense to have the Skrulls target those in the political sphere within the context of the MCU.

@SonOfAGif - pretty much. Limitless budget, teaspoon of imagination.

@GhostDog - I honestly feel like they need to use the Skrulls as being the reason the Sokivia Accords came to be. The Skrulls wanted complete oversight of the heroes and wanted to control all enhanced individuals because they needed to know their whereabouts 24/7. Project Insight from The Winter Soldier could have been an idea that the Skrulls (Fake Hydra operatives) pitched to Arnim Zola as an answer to Captain Marvel and any other potential heroes the Skrulls saw as threats. It could tie it all together.

Trying to remember my comics history, but in the books wasn't Fury once married to Cobie Smulders Shield Agent Maria Hill?

@Mugens - When I think of Nick Fury's wife, I always think of Monica Chang, from the Ultimate comics.
Since MCU Nick Fury is primarily based on Ultimate Nick Fury, I would've preferred Monica Chang rather than originating a new character not from the comics.
