SECRET INVASION: Emilia Clarke's Role In The Disney+ Series May Have Finally Been Revealed

Secret Invasion remains one of Marvel Studios' most intriguing Disney+ TV shows, especially as it's quite clearly going to be a departure from the comic books. That was an epic, Avengers-movie-sized event story. In contrast, this small screen adaptation will seemingly focus on Nick Fury and Maria Hill on an espionage mission to root out Earth's Skrull imposters.

There's been some speculation that the show will borrow heavily from 2019's Meet the Skrulls comic book series, and a new report may have revealed Emilia Clarke's role.

Apparently, the Game of Thrones star will play G'iah, a Skrull who debuted in that series from writer Robbie Thompson and artist Nico Henrichon. Initially, the shape-shifter helped her fellow aliens invade Earth, only to switch sides upon realising that her people were willing to go to brutal lengths in order to take the planet for themselves.

G'iah and her husband actually impersonated Pepper Potts and Tony Stark for a time, and we anticipate the character being a key player in Secret Invasion

A concern for many fans is that the storyline is going to get lost in the shuffle of The Multiverse Saga. It's unclear how much The Marvels will tie into the show, while it's also hard to imagine the Skrull Invasion of Earth being all that important compared to what we know is to come in movies like Avengers: The Kang Dynasty and Avengers: Secret Wars.

Fans had been hoping Clarke might be playing Veranke, the Skrull Queen who led the invasion of Earth and posed as Spider-Woman. However, it's unclear whether there are any plans for her moving forward, and at this point, even a full-blown Kree/Skrull War seems a little small scale for the MCU with everything else happening over the next couple of Phases.

Secret Invasion is set to premiere on Disney+ early in 2023, kicking off Phase 5.

It'd be cool if they succeed in another universe. At this point, MARVEL can take liberties on storytelling, then say- "multiverse", go back to status quo. Its actually brilliant. Now, we need better writing.

Time will tell if the story the show is telling is a good one or not.

That being said, I really hope this isn’t just a one-off that doesn’t carry into any other shows or movies. That would be the lamest shape-shifting alien invasion ever.

I don't really mind whatever Skrull she ends up playing (I'm kinda hoping for Lyja though), as long as she also ends up also being the human Abigail Brand

I thought she was going to be a background character.

She was pretty good actress in Game Of Thrones but after that ended she has been shit in everything else.

Once this show is over, there will be bazillion "comics vs. the show" memes, where they take one of the big full page spread fight scenes from the Secret Invasion comic and put it next to one of the action scenes of this show (kinda like what people did with the Civil War), but it honestly makes so much sense to tell this story as a smaller scale espionage thriller, with a sci-fi twist (kinda something like "James Bond meets The Invasion of the Body Snatchers/John Carpenter's The Thing").

Come on, Josh. Just go ahead and say this is your own editorial opinion.
