SECRET INVASION Finale Sets Up An Intriguing New Status Quo For Emilia Clarke's Gi'ah - SPOILERS

The Secret Invasion finale delivered a big surprise when it comes to Gi'ah's MCU future, but what does that look like and how important will she be for the MCU moving forward? Here's our breakdown...

As we explained in our earlier breakdown, today's episode of Secret Invasion concludes by giving Emilia Clarke's Gi'ah the powers of, well, pretty much every superhero (and supervillain) you can imagine.

Despite Gravik being every bit as powerful, she makes relatively short work of her former leader and blasts a hole through his chest which ensures he won't threaten Earth ever again. However, what can Marvel Studios now do with a Skrull who is quite easily the MCU's most powerful being?

A computer readout confirms that among the powers she acquired are those from Abomination, Ghost, Captain America, Corvus Glaive, Thanos, an Outrider, Proxima Midnight, Captain Marvel, Mantis, Cull Obsidian, Drax, Korg, Ebony Maw, a Frost Beast, The Hulk, a Chitauri, Black Panther, Valkyrie, Thor Odinson, Gamora, Groot, and The Winter Soldier.

It's worth pointing out that, like the comic book Super-Skrulls, Gi'ah can seemingly only use a certain number of powers at a time so that might go some way in ensuring she isn't too overpowered.

She's left in an intriguing place, anyway, as the episode wraps up with Talos' daughter being confronted by Sonya Falsworth. She points out that Earth's remaining Skrulls need a leader and promises Gi'ah the resources she needs to fight the war declared on her people by President Ritson.

In exchange, she wants the hero's help in making the planet safe for humans and Skrulls alike. Gi'ah agrees and the two women leave together, though it feels somewhat unnecessary after we later learn Fury has brokered peace talks between the Kree and Skrulls!

So, as the series ends, Gi'ah doesn't become Abigail Brand and she's now one of the universe's most formidable superheroes...acting as a spy. It's a strange ending for the character and one which very much leaves the door open to us seeing her again. Or perhaps not.

Looking at the comic books, there's really no one who matches this powered-up Gi'ah, so we're left to speculate who she'll become. Captain Britain, perhaps? Or maybe just the MCU's Super-Skrull (which wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing).

Still, it's a strange way to conclude the character's story and one that feels perhaps a little too rushed.

Raise your hand if you predicted the finale having a fight scene between two people with similar powers.

@CoHost - I predicted the twist that Giah would be the one pretending to be sick Fury, but then they gave Gravik a long monologue and then Fury a longer response monologue from Fury's perspective, so I was like “oh nevermind this has to be Fury". Then it WAS Giah, and I was like "ok, that's [frick]ing stupid writing."

Then the final fight happened and I cringed so hard I had to look away a couple time because I felt TOO embarrassed for Marvel to cringe through it. Watching that cgi was..... Difficult. I laughed several times.

I feel so bad for Emilia Clarke, first GoT then THIS finale.... Girl has the worst luck. Or agent.

Even tho recognizing it's major deficiencies,
I have to say I had enjoyed the series up until tonight's episode.

What we saw tonight was absolute dogshit.
No one is safeguarding these shows,
To take it back to a comic book framework, There is no Editorial Department in place.

This last half hour or so, IS DEFINITELY THE WORST THING THE MCU has ever produced.
I guess they just don't care anymore.

LOL.
Good for us, Leaves the way open for Gunn to become Ascendent with Superman: Legacy.
The MCU is on the last legs of shit show right now.

Does anyone think that all this shit will be in any way addressed until about five years from now, when they will handwave it all and pretend like every single character in this has moved to a new place?

Feige is tired. He DOES NOT care about story. HE ONLY CARES about convenience.
SAD

I thought Fury's wife would sacrifice herself. I was not expecting that super skull fight, I'm not even going to bother bashing the garbage. At least I was right about Martin Freeman lol once again their show ends like a wet fart. I still have the Super Skrull before F4, they couldn't wait ffs

I think it's pretty dumb and lame that Fury didn't even confront his own villain in this show. Giah had plenty motive against Gravik, so, if you wanted to justify that fight at the end in a story and (from Gravik's and Fury's perspective) character way, I think don't make it about Fury failing them for Gravik's motive (though he can still have a strong part in it). Make it Talos' responsibility. Make this Talos' guilt because he brought them to earth and has been trying to lead them peacefully, but the people have become radicalized.

Solid show. But it's funny how this was a show about Nick Fury and the Skrulls, yet the most interesting thing about it was the whole ordeal with Rhodey lol.

If Rhodey wasn't in this show, I might've been kinda bored with it.

Holy shit, that was SOOOOO much worse than I ever could have imagined. That was embarrassing. Straight up, that was embarrassing. That final fight was embarrassing. I cringed the entire time. Then how it just ends with Fury kissing a Skrull.... No after credit scene.... Did the MCU just give up?

Guys...... I think I'm done.

My decision to cancel D+ after Mando season 3 disappointed seems to have been a good decision. This show seems to have all the same problems as the other D+ disappointments.

All the long time Marvel fans are now super excited that super famous comic character Gi’ah is now one of the most powerful people in the MCU.

What are they thinking at Marvel right now? It’s like they are trying to tank the brand.

@Supercat6376 - I still haven’t seen Quantumania, She Hulk, Ms Marvel, or this show. I certainly won’t be seeing The Marvels in theaters. Not even sure if I care about Loki S2, even though I mostly enjoyed the first one.

At this point, hypothetically, I am somewhat anticipating X-Men 97, Deadpool 3, and Daredevil. But nothing else they have announced sounds exciting at all. And even with those three, I am incredibly skeptical if they can deliver.

@mountainman - I feel the same way. I haven’t gone to see a Disney product in a very long time. There is just nothing to be excited about. I’m looking forward to the X-men 97 and I enjoyed the bad batch a lot. Animation wise they seem to be on the right track.

@Supercat6376 - If even say that What If was better than a lot of live action MCU stuff for a few episodes, so maybe you’re right.

I loved Andor personally and still think the first 2 seasons of Mando were pretty good.

Here’s hoping X-Men 97 doesn’t disappoint!

Why does everyone of these finales feel rushed , marvel either stop doing tv shows or increase the runtime/episode count

Emilia Clarke is a black sheep. There, I said it.

Well glad this character isn't TOO overpowered. She only has the powers of the most powerful characters in the entire marvel universe, minus scarlet witch and Thor. That's not OP at all! 🙄

Oh wait, Thor is part of her power set. Guess it's still not too much 🤣

@Origame - They didn't confirm Scarlet Witch, but she was at the final battle in Endgame, so she's prob got her DNA too.

Did you see Thanos' name up there?! Thanos!

Again I wonder if Thaddeus Ross and Val will use Gravik's body to create Sentry.
