There wasn't a huge amount of hype surrounding Secret Invasion prior to its debut, likely because it wasn't introducing an exciting new superhero to the MCU.
However, the marketing campaign also felt a little muted, though the series has finally arrived and, as you'll likely already know, critics have already weighed in on the first two episodes. Additional reviews for the premiere have since been counted after it hit Disney+ on Wednesday, meaning we have an updated Rotten Tomatoes score.
With a total of 98 reviews, Secret Invasion currently has 63% on the Tomatometer. As a result, it's quite easily the lowest-rated Marvel Studios TV series on Disney+ to date. For context, the highest is Ms. Marvel with 98%, while She-Hulk: Attorney at Law sits right above this latest effort at 80%.
In terms of an Audience Score, that's 77% based on 500+ ratings.
"A well-deserved showcase for Samuel L. Jackson," reads the Critics Consensus, "Secret Invasion steadies itself after a somewhat slow start by taking the MCU in a darker, more mature direction."
It's important to remember that additional reviews will be counted in the weeks ahead and when the season ultimately concluded. This means a definitive, final score won't be generated until five or six weeks from now.
This isn't a great start, of course, and it seems many critics anticipated this being the MCU's Andor and were disappointed when it was more along the lines of Captain America: The Winter Soldier. We're sure that shocking ending left a bad taste in some mouths too.
