Blair Redford To Play Thunderbird In X-MEN Family Drama GIFTED

Last night, we found out that Fox's drama centered around parents and their mutant children would be called Gifted (or possibly X-Men: Gifted). Today, we learn that a classic X-Man will appear.

Yesterday, we learned from producer Lauren Shuler Donner that the Matt Nix executive produced and Bryan Singer directed X-Men pilot at Fox would be called Gifted. Today, we have inadvertent confirmation that a classic X-Men member will be appearing as well.

Last month, Blair Redford, best known for Switched At Birth, was cast as  "Sam, the strong-headed Native American leader of the underground network."  However, it appears that was just a bit of misdirection as a social media post from Gifted co-star Natalie Alyn Lind shows that Blair is playing Thunderbird, better known as John Proudstar.

There have been two other X-Men characters to use the code name, including John's brother, James Proudstar - who also went by Warpath for a time. The other user of the code name is Neal Shaara, an Indian with pyrokinetic abilities so it's highly unlikely this is the version of Thunderbird that Redford is playing.

With this revelation, Thunderbird joins Polaris, Blink, and Sentinels as classic X-Men elements and characters that will appear on the show.

Sounds cool enough. I'm not very knowledgeable on the character, but I will give it a shot.

@RancidBane - He died pretty early on after his introduction and was replaced by his brother.

@P862010 - I hope so. I wonder if they'd use the actor from DoFP again or change it up (a la Deadpool's Colossus).

good choice

Although if the TV is separated from the cinematic universe, they could put all the meat on the grill, like DC/CW

@Fanmar16 - Im assuming Thunderbird + warpath are the same character?

But to me that add even more to my belief this film take place between The Wolverine and the Apocalyptic future of DoFP. Both Warpath and blink were active in that era as we can see from the film.

Perhaps this series will function to show the rise of the sentinels.

Personally I would enjoy that more, it get the connection with the films, however it doesnt have restraints (eg like Rebels couldnt hint to Rogue One before its release date) as the timeline is eseentially wiped out.

Interesting. I'll have to look up to know which are his powers.

I hope the show is entertaining, I think it has the potential. =)

God just thinking of Havok and Polaris on screen has my imagination running wild. It's criminal that Fox is so clueless to what they have.

@ODanil - Ed Brubaker made me a Havok fan. He's one my favourites when he's written right.

(Sorry for all the mentions, i was trying to post an image but it didn't go to plan)
