The first two episodes of WandaVision were inspired by classic, family-friendly sitcoms such as Bewitched and I Love Lucy, and most of the humor reflected that. Episode 3 skips forward to a setting more reminiscent of '70s shows like The Brady Bunch, and that's expected to continue right up to modern day.

WANDAVISION Review: Marvel's First Disney+ Series Takes Us On A Surreal Return Trip To The MCU

While speaking to Variety, star Elizabeth Olsen spoke about adapting her performance to fit each specific era, and revealed that the Disney+ series is set to get more cynical as it approaches the tone popularized by the likes of Malcolm in the Middle and The Office.

"The humor of Malcolm in the Middle and then Modern Family becomes incredibly cynical, and that's what we found comforting, for whatever reason, as a society," said the Scarlet Witch actress. "So it was just fun when we were in this boot camp to not only just chart the physical changes as tools, but also, ‘What was comedy for history of that time?'"

"Like the fact that The Brady Bunch is a result of Vietnam or Rosemary's Baby is a film and Brady Bunch is on television, that doesn't make any sense to me. But for whatever reason, that's what the consumer was watching at home."

It'll be interesting to see this tonal shift, and whether it winds up representing our heroes becoming more aware of what's going on in the "real world."

Some fans were a little disappointed at the lack of any big reveals in the first two instalments, but without giving too much away, the conclusion to episode 3 does suggest we won't have to wait too much longer for answers.

Understandable given how sitcoms became less innocent over time. With that being said, this show has done an excellent job so far paying homage to older sitcoms.
