WANDAVISION Star Elizabeth Olsen Teases A "Shift" In Episode 4; Hopes The Show's Villain Remains A Mystery

Three episodes in, and we're still no closer to discovering the identity of WandaVision's big bad - a mystery star Elizabeth Olsen hopes the show is able to maintain for as long as possible...

Marvel's WandaVision is a series that clearly delights in keeping its audience guessing, and one of the most-discussed aspects of the plot is who (or what) will ultimately be revealed as the villain of the piece.

During a recent interview with the Toronto Sun, star Elizabeth Olsen was asked about the show's big bad, and said she hopes the mystery is maintained for as long as possible.

“Usually when you watch these Marvel movies, you know when the villain is going to appear and you kind of know the villain before you even watch it because of the trailers or the story,” said the Avengers: Infinity War actress. “But, at the end of episode three, you still don’t know what or who the villain is with our show. I would love that mystery to continue for as long as we can, until it’s revealed or whatever is revealed.”

There are several theories relating to the show's primary antagonist doing the rounds, and following the conclusion of episode 3, speculation continues to mount that Wanda herself might be the one pulling the strings in Westview.

Whatever the case may be, it sounds like we will finally get some real answers in Friday's fourth instalment.

"I think the reason why they show the press the first episodes is because Episode 4 is quite a shift," said Olsen in a separate interview with Digital Spy. "It's a really fun perspective swap and I think a lot gets understood at that moment."

Do you guys have any theories about WandaVision's villain? What do you think of the show so far? Check out our review of the first 3 episodes here, and drop us a comment down below.

I love this show. All the clues in the background and little details really make it something special. The actors are all doing great sticking to their main roles and dually playing into the respective eras sitcom style.

Not sure if I want it to be a 'big gun' villain or not because I don't want someone like Magneto, Dr. Doom, or Mephisto, to be introduced on a streaming service. But then again it might make it worthwhile if it was really well cast and executed.

@FleischerSupes - the question is, since Thanos was introduced in a 20 second post credit scene at the end of Avengers, is a streaming service with a 9 episode count beneath a 20 second post credit scene?

@FleischerSupes - feige said many times these shows are as important to the studios and their overall plans as movies. its no longer 2005. tv can definitely compete with cinemas.

Sounds like we’ll be getting the SWORD introduction and perspective come Friday. Can’t lie... I’m looking forward to see how this goes down.

@Kman -
Yes,
We get to see what is going on on the outside on Friday. We are also likely to learn what is going on with Wanda/Vision in the real world.

I like the way it's picking up steam.

Would be so dope if the show ended and lead into Doc Strange 2 with it being revealed Strange and Mephisto have been playing a game for the fate of Wanda's psyche; which will have larger repercussions for the multiverse.

@BlackBeltJones - Mephisto is a voice in Wanda's head ... Wanda, live the life you deserve. Also, he is the main viewer of the Show.

@Repian - him watching this play out, whilst sitting on his throne would be dope.

I’m starting to think it could be Wanda herself.

@tb86 - I'm not so sure. I've maintained for a while that this will break her and she's going to be the villain of DS2 though.

It’s obvious that it’s either Wanda herself of the nosy neighbor Kathryn Hahn is playing. I got my money on the latter.

Definitely looking forward to this show unfolding more, but I won't lie and say I haven't had a blast watching every episode unfold in this sequence

Forward propulsion has always been a big part of Marvel's storytelling structure, but I'm hoping they learn with WandaVision that establishing a concept/dynamic and letting it breathe for more than a movie/episode can yield just as big of a goldmine

Each episode contains some clue about what is going on outside. Episode 1 shows a SWORD person watching the proceedings on the TV. We will get more perspective on that come Friday.
