WHAT IF...? Season 2 Action Figure Reveals Our Best Look Yet At Iron Man's Colorful Sakaarian Armor

Earlier this week, we finally got to watch What If...? season one's missing episode when Tony Stark teamed up with Gamora and donned a colorful suit of Sakaarian armor. Now, we have a new Hot Toys figure!

"What If... Iron Man Crashed Into The Grandmaster?" was meant to be a season 1 episode of What If...? but ended up being cut due to time constraints. That's why a Gamora Variant we hadn't met before was a member of The Watcher's Guardians of the Multiverse and, earlier this week, we finally discovered her backstory.

You can read our recap of the episode by clicking here, but Hot Toys has today unveiled (via Toonado.com) its 1/6th scale figure based on the eye-catching Sakaarian armour Tony Stark dons after teaming up with Gamora on The Grandmaster's home planet.

During Iron Man's clash with the villain, we saw just what this suit could do...including a sequence which saw it transform into a hot rod for the Armoured Avenger's race with Sakaar's bonkers leader. Unfortunately, this figure doesn't boast that function and, honestly, is a little smaller than we'd expected (particularly when it boasts a near-$500 price tag and isn't die-cast).

Still, that design is undeniably eye-catching and should stand out on any collector's shelf. It's unclear whether we're getting any other What If...? season 2 figures, though Kahhori and the new-look Hela are bound to be at the top of many wishlists.

Here's the official description for the figure:

In the Marvel Studios' What If...? animated series, Tony Stark's character continues beyond Iron Man Mark LXXXV from Avengers: Endgame and takes on a different path in an alternate reality as Sakaarian Iron Man. The armor combines the iconic character of Iron Man with the unique setting and aesthetic of Sakaar, a planet renowned for its gladiatorial games and diverse alien population. This fusion created a distinctive portrayal of Iron Man.

To build excitement for the official release of What If…? season 2, Hot Toys is expanding on the multiverse concept and offering fans an opportunity to experience new and imaginative variations of beloved characters. Presenting to fans the Sakaarian Iron Man as a visually striking 1/6th scale collectible figure from What If…? collection.

Skillfully crafted based on the appearance of Sakaarian Iron Man, the one-sixth scale figure stands 36cm in height, features Tony Stark's head sculpt with magnetic LED light-up face armor. The intricate armor designs, inspired by the planet's culture, further enhance the visual appeal of the figure. Vibrant colors and tribal influences contribute to the unique and striking appearance of Sakaarian Iron Man. This interpretation of Iron Man could feature modifications and upgrades specific to Sakaar, adapting to the challenges and conditions of the planet.

The new Sakaarian Iron Man 1/6th scale figure will stand out as a centerpiece in any display!

Way too pastel, and I actually loved that episode. At least make it transform into that sweet-ass ride!

This season is better than the first but they are still wasting the limitless potential of What If…

The stories feel like the writers took inspiration from a generic MCU Fan twitter account’s tweets.

Kind looks like that time @McGee covered himself in maple syrup and locked himself in the Lego store when they were closed for Memorial Day.

@OriginalGusto1 -

Aww, c’mon man.

Who of us can say we never did that.

@DocSpock - Hell, as it turns out I'm in the LEGO store at Stonebriar mall right now, buck naked and covered in honey (stickier than syrup by experimentation). Just a sec...

Yeah. so here are some take-aways: stick with the classic LEGO set. If you start getting into the specialized licensed sets or the Technics one you'll end up getting a bunch of weird-shaped blocks stuck in... uncomfortable locations. Speaking of which, STAY AWAY FROM THE DUPLOS unless you like a LEGO the size and shape of a Snickers bar jammed up your ass.

And now for the worst part: the walk back out of the store. Ow! DAMN! Ouch! Ow ow ow! Shit! F**k that hurt!! Ow! Ow!...

I’m gonna hire you as my publicist to make all stuff I do sound good. Then I bet people will understand me much better.

@DocSpock - So you've said. I'll be sure to check it out if I ever make it to Roanoke, but to be fair considering that I live about 5 minutes from Stonebriar Center everything I need is 5-10 mins away (and occasionally 15), so I'm spoiled. That being said, I may make an exception if actual money is on the menu 😉.

This episode was one of the less interesting episodes of What If this year. Not as bad as Happy Saves Christmas, but probably right above it.

@NinnesMBC - agreed. Seeing it in a more live-action style, it kinda reminds me of that Igor suit from IM3

This variant Tony Stark is who should get plucked out and get thrown into Battleworld in Secret Wars.

@IronMan616 - that's not a bad idea to be honest. I kinda wanna see the Hulkbuster Transformer in live-action as well

@bkmeijer1 - yeah for some reason, I keep seeing this suit made for an '85 Secret Wars, if that makes any sense.

And I mean Captain Carter and evil Dr. Strange made it to live action, so why not this Iron Man variant.

@IronMan616 - all those characters feel like they belong in Secret Wars. Just not as main character. It'd be fun to see them in a portals like scene though
