WHAT IF...? Season 2 Episode Introducing Kahhori Gets A Synopsis; ECHO Star Will Play MCU's Newest Hero

What If...? season 2 is fast approaching, and an episode generating a great deal of discussion is "What If... Kahhori Reshaped the World?" That's going to rewrite the MCU's history and add a brand new character to the franchise that, if nothing else, we're expecting to be a central figure in this animated series moving forward.

There's a chance she'll appear in live-action as well, of course, and we now know who is voicing Kahhori: Echo and Reservation Dogs star Devery Jacobs. In that live-action Disney+ series, she'll play Bonnie, a childhood friend of Maya Lopez's who reunites with her as an adult when the Hawkeye villain returns home.

We also have the official synopsis for the episode (via Toonado.com) which reads, "After conquistadors lay siege to her tribe, a young Mohawk woman ventures into the Tesseract-powered waters of the legendary Forbidden Lake to recruit the forces of Sky World to help save her people."

In March, we learned that Kahhori will be a newly created character for this series and the MCU. In "What If... Kahhori Reshaped the World?" the show will ask what would happen if the Tesseract fell to Earth and landed in the sovereign Haudenosaunee Confederacy before the colonization of America.

The Tesseract is set to take on a new life and a new mythology, transforming a lake into a gateway to the stars and leading Kahhori, a young Mohawk woman, on a quest to discover her power.

Written by Ryan Little, the episode was created in close collaboration with members of the Mohawk Nation like historian Doug George and Mohawk language expert Cecelia King to ensure cultural authenticity. The story will be told in the Mohawk language and is informed by the history of the Akwesasne region in what is now upstate New York.

"Season two of 'What If...?' continues the journey as The Watcher guides viewers through the vast multiverse, introducing brand new and familiar faces throughout the MCU," reads a brief synopsis which was released alongside a trailer last month. "The series questions, revisits and twists classic Marvel Cinematic moments with an incredible voice cast that includes a host of stars who reprise their iconic roles."

"Featuring fan-favorite characters this season like Nebula, Hela and Happy Hogan, episodes are directed by executive producer Bryan Andrews with executive producer AC Bradley as head writer."

What If...? season 2 starts streaming on Disney+ starting December 22. In the spirit of the holiday season, we'll get to unwrap a new episode nightly for nine nights.

I enjoyed season 1 and excited for this. Hope it is not too episodic.

Marvel: Has massive library of established, well loved characters they can introduce in animated format via this series before introducing them into the live action MCU.

Marvel’s response: Let’s come up with a completely new character who has never existed in the comics and who fans have zero attachment to and dedicate an entire episode to them. Maybe we’ll throw them in another episode if we can actually keep this thing going for another season. And if we’re really feeling up to it, we’re going to eventually give her a live action series on D+ OR a full-blown feature film and we’re going to fast track it into production before Silver Surfer, Ghost Rider, The XMen or Dr Doom.

I swear to God, it’s not even a joke anymore. Marvel has officially lost it. We need a major house cleaning before we ever get anything even remotely close to the Infinity Saga

@BruceWayng - I wouldnt judge anything before having seen it tbh. Both X-23 & Harley Quinn were original characters created for their respective TV Show with X-23 only appearing in just one episode. Not only have they transitioned into comics, but are widely popular characters, who have then went on to appear in live-action, where both characters again have been very popular and acclaimed by critics and fans alike. So you never know.

@aurorsand146 - agreed, honestly find it funny they’re complaining about this, because all I hear on this website is to make NEW POC CHARACTERS instead of racebending old ones

@Taonrey - I imagine its because of the format, What Ifs are supposed to revolve around existing characters, its the point, so its a weird way to introduce a new one

@Taonrey - most people make that argument in response to existing characters being race swapped. My point is why are we getting brand new characters before the tons of other cool characters that fans already exist-regardless of said characters background or race.

If Marvel wants to make an episode about a Native American character-great. Why aren’t we getting Forge, Thunderbird or Warpath? Why is this character being introduced in What If but not showing up in Echo.

It’s like they’re just throwing shit against the wall and have completely lost what was once great about Marvel. I’m not saying everything needs to be connected all of the time but stop creating projects that no one wants and doing them
In a vacuum outside of the greater storyline

@Radders - this show in general is weird and badly done in my opinion
