The highly positive first reactions to Zack Snyder's Army of the Dead hit earlier today, and Netflix (via Bloody Disgusting) has now released five new clips from the highly-anticipated zombie heist movie.

Most of the minute-long clips focus on Scott Ward (Dave Bautista) assembling his Las Vengeance crew as they prepare to infiltrate the shambler-infested Sin City, but we do get a few seconds of undead action as they team lays eyes on that much-discussed zombie tiger.

We also have some exciting casting news for fans of Rian Johnson's Knives Out, as Army of the Dead star Dave Bautista is set to reteam with Spectre co-star Daniel Craig for the upcoming sequel. Plot details are still under wraps, but we do know that Benoit Blanc will return "to solve another mystery revolving around a large cast of suspects." There are no details on Bautista's role.

Check out the clips below along with an updates synopsis, and let us know what you think in the comments.

“Army of the Dead takes place following a zombie outbreak that has left Las Vegas in ruins and walled off from the rest of the world. When Scott Ward (Dave Bautista), a displaced Vegas local, former zombie war hero who’s now flipping burgers on the outskirts of the town he now calls home, is approached by casino boss Bly Tanaka (Hiroyuki Sanada), it’s with the ultimate proposition: Break into the zombie-infested quarantine zone to retrieve $200 million sitting in a vault beneath the strip before the city is nuked by the government in 32 hours.

Driven by the hope that the payoff could help pave the way to a reconciliation with his estranged daughter Kate (Ella Purnell), Ward takes on the challenge, assembling a ragtag team of experts for the heist. They include Maria Cruz (Ana de la Reguera), an ace mechanic and Ward’s old friend; Vanderohe (Omari Hardwick), a zombie killing machine; Marianne Peters (Tig Notaro), a cynical helicopter pilot; Mikey Guzman (Raúl Castillo), a go-for-broke influencer and Chambers (Samantha Win), his ride-or-die; Martin (Garret Dillahunt), the casino’s head of security; a badass warrior known as the Coyote (Nora Arnezeder) who recruits Burt Cummings (Theo Rossi), a slimy security guard; and a brilliant German safe cracker named Dieter (Matthias Schweighöfer).

Scott finds an unexpected emotional hurdle when Kate joins the expedition to search for Geeta (Huma S. Qureshi), a mother who’s gone missing inside the city. With a ticking clock, a notoriously impenetrable vault, and a smarter, faster horde of Alpha zombies closing in, only one thing’s for certain in the greatest heist ever attempted: survivors take all.”

Army of the Dead chomps its way onto Netflix on May 21.

One site says he’s starring opposite Craig, so he’s probably an Inspector Japp type

@BlackBeltJones - Plot twist, he's more an Inspector Clouseau type.

(Peter Sellers edition, of course)

@BlackBeltJones - for some reason I see Bautista's character as the coroner

@aresww3 - I wouldn't necessarily say cannot act, but I think he has a certain demeanor about him that makes him fun to watch

I love that Hollywood saw him as Drax and instead of just making him the goofy muscle guy in everything they realized "Hey, this guy can actually ACT. Let's tale advantage of that!"

I actually fancy Bautista over the Rock as far as former WWE perps go. He was excellent in BR 2049 and surprised me in that he was actually showing range.

I didn't love the first movie, but I didn't hate it. It frustrates me when mysteries don't give the audience the clues to solve it themselves and decide instead to have the twist reveal be nothing we could have predicted. It feels cheap and like a waste of time. For me, the excitement of mysteries, be it a novel or a film, is the audience participation. We're trying to figure it out before our protagonist does. So to me it's super frustrating when it's revealed "what we showed you happened, well that actually didn't happen and it wasn't a misdirection but a straight up lie because they weren't clever or original enough to come up with something better. So they lie to the audience, not trick or cleverly conceal in plain sight under our very noses, they just show false depictions of events. That shit bugs me to no end. It cheats the journey of its purpose. Why did I just watch an hour and a half of bullshit just to learn in the last 5 minutes none of what we saw actually happened and we could have never reached the conclusion based on the facts provided.

Cool for my man Dave.

But on other news, the Army of Dead clips in this article are kind of... ugly? The over used depth of field in every shot is off putting for me. I’m shocked because even Snyder with all his flaws, usually nails some great shots.

@Se4M4NSt4ine - I agree... the over use of shallow depth of field is a bit off-putting...
