Netflix's smash hit, Stranger Things, will continue with its 80's setting in its third season, executive producer Shawn Levy confirmed Sunday night. Speaking on the red carpet before the show's PaleyFest panel is Los Angeles, Levy established that season three picks up in 1985, and that the romantic pairings seen at the end of season two will still be in full bloom.

"Mike and Eleven and are going strong, so that's a relationship that continues, and same with Mad Max and Lucas. But again, they're like 13 or 14-year-old kids, so what does romance mean at that stage of life? It can never be simple and stable relationships and there's fun to that instability," Levy said.

One of the standout moments from the second season was the development of Steve Harrington, who went from a stereotypical high school jock to something of a protector and older brother figure to the younger kids in the show. Levy promised that we haven't seen the last of "Dad Steve", adding that they have more planned for the character in season three.  "We'll definitely get to see some more of Steve Harrington in season three, and I'll just say we won't be abandoning the Dad Steve magic," Levy said. "I don't want to say much more, but I literally feel that we were walking along and we stumbled onto a gold mine with Dad Steve."

Levy also confirmed that the season begins filming next month, and will reference the famous 1985 film, Back to the Future. An official release date for the season has not been announced, though the cast members just received significant pay increases ahead of filming.

I would quite like steve to become a cop at some point. He quickly made it as the most badass character in the show.

@DeadlCipher - Completely agree. Such a great character redemption, and so being a rookie cop would be too cool.

nah, too much dad Steve is going to feel forced and possibly too cartoony.

I hope it isn't too much romance between the kids. I'd be ok with 0 tbh. Just stick to the plot. They're 13-14 year old kids, and grown men shouldn't really care whats going on between them. And if you do....then we got a problem

@KermitTheFraud - Grown men arent the only ones watching though, what of grown women? teenagers, kids and weirdos watch it. Its not just for grown men.

@DeadlCipher - I know...I just put grown men because that's possibly where most of the views are coming from. And don't apologise. Weirdos watch the show too.

@SuperCat - I liked season 2 more as well, but it has one episode (number 7) that is extremely polarizing. I personally hated the episode. I won't spoil it but I bet you'll be scratching your head going "wtf"...

@DeadlCipher - The only Eleven stuff I found was a con was in episode 7. I really didn't have any issues with the season outside of that episode. Romances, Mike, etc. didn't bother me. I actually liked Mike being paired with Will. Perhaps the strongest thing the season did was pairing characters or sets of characters together, that was great.

@HeavyMetal4Life - I liked mike and will, i just mike a little....errg. I dont dislike the eleven parts, i just think they could have been handled better. But she still one of the best characters.

What they did with his character was great. You think he's gonna be another A-hole character but then becomes a hero. Freaking love Dad Steve.

@Kevwebsz -

I read that the intention was to make him a douchebag but Joe Keery's performance and casting made them change the character.

Surprised by how genuinely great this show was, every character was well cast and played their roles well.

Let the kids have a cute and awkward relationship that distracts them from all they to through please, it is nice when characters get the chance to relax with each other and it also sends a nice ideal of relationships as they grow up together. Other shows have done it in the past and it really pays off.
