Netflix has released the first trailer for the upcoming fourth season of Stranger Things, and it's left us with a lot of questions!

The teaser takes us back to the Hawkins National Laboratory, where we first met Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown) in season 1. We see a bunch of children at play as Dr. Martin Brenner (Matthew Modine), aka "Papa," addresses his "experiments."

"Today, I have something very special planned for you," he tells them, before turning his attention to Eleven, who appears to be telepathically eavesdropping. "Eleven, are you listening?"

Is this a flashback, or has Brenner somehow returned and started up the lab again? We assume it's the former, but anything is possible with this show.

New cast additions for season 4 include A Nightmare on Elm Street legend Robert Englund, Jamie Campbell Bower (the Twilight films), Eduardo Franco (American Vandal), Joseph Quinn (Howard’s End), Sherman Augustus (Into the Badlands), Mason Dye (Bosch), Nikola Djuricko (Legends) and Tom Wlaschiha (Game of Thrones).

A love letter to the ‘80s classic genre films that captivated a generation, Stranger Things is a thrilling drama set in the seemingly normal Midwestern town of Hawkins, Indiana. After a boy vanishes into thin air, his close-knit group of friends and family search for answers and are pulled into a high-stakes and deadly series of events. Beneath the surface of their ordinary town lurks an extraordinary supernatural mystery, along with top-secret government experiments and a dangerous gateway that connects our world to a powerful yet sinister realm. Friendships will be tested and lives will be altered as what they discover will change Hawkins and possibly the world — forever.
Since its release in 2016, the global phenomenon Stranger Things has garnered over 65 award wins and 175 award nominations, including those from the Emmys, Golden Globes, Grammys, SAG, DGA, PGA, WGA, BAFTA, a Peabody Award, AFI Program of the Year, the People’s Choice Awards, MTV Movie & TV Awards, Teen Choice Awards, and many others. The three-time Emmy Award Nominee for Best Drama is one of Netflix’s most watched titles, with Season 3 alone amassing 40.7 million household accounts in its first four days — more than any other Netflix film or series in that timeframe — and 64 million member households in the first four weeks.

I really enjoy this show but I am so sick of origin stories...I hope it’s a minor focus and they continue pushing the story forward later in the season.

I like this show a lot but cant help but feels that it should have ended after Season 1. I will still watch this of course, but I hope that this season manages to recapture the mysteriousness and scaryness of the first season which had me hooked!

@MeAreLegend - S3 was the perfect ending for this show imo

@MeAreLegend - Part of me wishes they had followed the original plan of making this an anthology series with weird shit happening in Hawkins and every season having a new cast and set in a different decade. But I still enjoy the show and I'm fairly invested in the characters (tho season 3 turned some of them into caricatures imo).

An origin story... Really? Just go forward, S1 was more than enough for her origin story.

@KWilly - no, no, no. It’s gonna set up the rest of the kids that are like eleven. My theory is the first kid that had powers, probably called one, created the upside down or rules it.

Looks like season 1 retread. You already got her origin. I always thought season 1 had the perfect ending for this series.
