Late last month, the second half of The Witcher's third season was released on Netflix. With that, Henry Cavill's time as Geralt of Rivia came to a close before Liam Hemsworth takes over the role in season 4.

Most fans seem to agree the former Superman didn't exactly go out on a high, but the show's latest Audience Score suggests the vast majority outright hated season 3. As we first reported on SFFGazette.com, The Witcher's latest batch of episodes holds a dismal 22% approval score on Rotten Tomatoes.

Here's a comparison of how the Critics and Audience scores compare for each season:

The Witcher season 1: 68%/89%
The Witcher season 2: 95%/56%
The Witcher season 3: 77%/22%

It's worth pointing out that there's a chance we're seeing an element of review-bombing here, particularly as so many fans are unhappy about Cavill's perceived ousting from the Netflix series. However, the decline from season to season does reflect much of what we usually see online and something needs to be done.

The streamer will likely be hoping Hemsworth's debut as Geralt will serve as a fresh start for The Witcher, and it may end up being exactly that. Between the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes, the show is unlike to return any sooner than 2025, and that breathing room is likely to be hugely beneficial.

Behind the scenes, however, Netflix should probably consider some major creative team changes.

While Cavill has now departed the series, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, and Joey Batey are all going to reprise their respective roles alongside Hemsworth's new Geralt. As for the show's next big bad, you can learn more about them right here.

"As monarchs, mages and beasts of the Continent compete to capture her," the season 3 synopsis begins, "Geralt takes Ciri of Cintra into hiding, determined to protect his newly-reunited family against those who threaten to destroy it."

"Entrusted with Ciri’s magical training, Yennefer leads them to the protected fortress of Aretuza, where she hopes to discover more about the girl’s untapped powers; instead, they discover they’ve landed in a battlefield of political corruption, dark magic, and treachery. They must fight back, put everything on the line – or risk losing each other forever."

The first three seasons of The Witcher are now streaming on Netflix.

It was all down hill after that first S1 episode. No wonder Cavill jumped ship

How tf did Season 2 get a 95% critic score, embarrassing

@Chappers - Well, it can be explained this way, the first season of a show always has more reviews from critics.

The second season have less, because the critics who thought the first season was bad don't even bother with season 2.

So what you get is that you have less reviews but only from people who like the show.

After ruining The Witcher, I'm very hesitant about the One Piece show. Then again the creator has been heavily involved. Netflix is the coke head of Hollywood. Here's a cool thread on BTS tidbits about Oppenheimer https://twitter.com/ATRightMovies/status/1687038258964725760?t=awHY6FDICUW0NmzlL-dbxQ&s=19

@bobevanz - I just don’t know how you capture One Piece authentically in live action when Oda’s art style, a massive part of its charm and aesthetic, is completely lost. And that’s without even getting into Netflix’s poor track record.

@PlusUltra - no way it’ll be good. Anime/manga aren't meant to be transitioned into live action…

@PlusUltra - I’m so sick of them trying live action anime/manga adaptions because the whole point of the story is that it is told at a long pace with lots of build up. Neither of those work in cinema while adapting them because if you change either of those to suit your own purposes such as time and costs you essentially rob the audience of the creativity that made it unique in the first place. Then add in the fact that the worlds are vibrant and unique because they can be drawn that way and works well together in situations where cgi takes…getting used to…Then comes the question how loyal are they to the works? Because unlike comics their is only one story they can follow and adding their own original ideas can absolutely piss off the fandom that helped make the original work so popular in the first place!

Lastly comics have multiple versions of characters so they’re easier to cast but a anime/manga has the same cast (at least 90% of the time) from start to finish who age or stay the same depending on the story and fans connect to those characters after being invested so long where a live action can basically add someone they see fit yet have nothing similar to the bright unique characters they’re like in the original works. Most manga creators envision their own “perfect people” when they draw they’re characters so they can be vibrant and stand out in ways the real world can’t so it’s almost always guaranteed to be an uphill battle.

@PlusUltra - how you capture one piece's authenticity. Also, sarcasm of course.

S3 had bad writing, lots of teleporting about and turning up out of no where at the right time. Some really bad acting (fake Ciri🤢) rubbish action and not enough of it. Call me crazy but some Witchering would be nice?! The best eps have always been the contained ones. The striga being the absolute stand out. Such a shame, the potential was huge but its been going down hill. Killing Vesemir was bad enough but he never even acknowledged the loss?!

Well it was a pretty mediocre season, so I'm not surprised. It was all a bit cliche, had another non-ending, and the twists and turns (especially at Aratuza) were all just felt like an attempt at staying interesting.

A misstep is one thing, but how do you ruin all the hype the franchise had before this shitshow ?
