Temuera Morrison Shares Unhappiness About THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT's THE MANDALORIAN Crossover

The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison has admitted he wasn't on board with the show's The Mandalorian crossover, while also sharing some insights into why he wasn't part of its recent third season.

The Mandalorian's third season was nothing if not divisive, and while an explosive finale went some way in making up for that, there's one disappointing decision Star Wars fans are struggling to get past.

We are, of course, referring to the fact there was no sign of Boba Fett in this latest batch of episodes. There were rumblings that season 3 would feature a cameo appearance from the iconic bounty hunter, with Tatooine's new Daimyo getting involved with the battle to retake Mandalore. Unfortunately, he didn't jetpack in to save the day during "The Return" and was conspicuous by his absence.

During a recent convention appearance (via SFFGazette.com), The Book of Boba Fett star Temuera Morrison confirmed there were early plans for his character to appear in The Mandalorian, only for him to never hear back from Disney and Lucasfilm.

"I was supposed to be in The Mandalorian season 3 but nobody rang me," the clearly disgruntled actor said. "I was waiting for the phone call in New Zealand, waiting and wanting to give up."

That appears to be far from Morrison's only issue with the studio right now because he was also critical of the fact one episode of The Book of Boba Fett was dedicated to The Mandalorian (many hail it as the show's best instalment). In fact, it seems the actor didn't appreciate Din Djarin stealing Boba's spotlight!

"Well, that Mando guy stole a few chapters of my book. It was painful watching him turn up with some black new lethal sword," he says. "And the way he turned up in my Book of Boba, he just destroyed everybody. I’m sure this guy is...ah...ruining my show. But I couldn’t say anything. I’m not the writer, so I have to bear it I guess."

Ouch.

We hope this isn't a sign that Morrison is on the outs with Lucasfilm because, if he is, we'll be saying goodbye to Fett as quickly as he returned to our screens during The Mandalorian's second season.

Man wasn't wrong, Mando was the best part of his show 😂

@Nightwing1015 - Damn I was about to write that. The only tolerable couple of BBF eps were the Mando ones.

He should be mad at the people that wrote his character’s terrible arc in that show. The Mando episodes were the only ones that weren’t terrible.

I enjoyed Fett's even with it's flaws. If they make a second seasson I hope they correct many stuff and maybe we can get a more satifying arc for this character.

The project everybody wanted and they completely botched it

Do a Boba prequel with Logan Williams, completing his clone wars arc

Maybe bring him in to open the show and book end it and maybe play a clone in the main story

I'm pretty sure he was joking...being sarcastic. He was apparently wearing a Star Wars shirt during the interview. He still loves the franchise very much. The only thing I don't like is how they changed the character to incorporate his personal Māori culture

Morrison is not the only one who felt that way.

Not only did he destroy your show but he destroyed the season 2 finale and it’s impact.

Thank you again Kathleen Kennedy. She is horrible.

@TyrantBossMedia - It's weird. I went back to the Mandalorian season 2 looking for the Luke and Grogu episode and couldn't find it. I was like huh? Did they get rid of it or something? Then I remembered it was on the Book of Boba Fett. Then I thought about the episode of the Book of Boba Fett when he was beating the shit out of the Storm Troopers with knee rockets and shit. Then I realized that was on the Mandalorian and not the Book of Boba Fett. Now I'm trying to figure out if there was anything Boba did on his own show that was awesome.

Seems all we got were these two memes

@DarthOmega - That's the problem. Just as the Boba Fett story was getting good they cut away to Mando for two episodes. It would have been okay to just hav one episode, kind of a "Meanwhile...", but they took two of the 8 episodes (1/4 of the season) and made it about Mando.

Then by the time they came back the story was so disjointed and rushed. It was just horrible writing and they did irreparable damage to The Book of Boba Fett which could have been epic.

That was the beginning of the end.
Then they screwed up Season 3 of The Mandalorian.
And now I am hearing that Season 4 will be about Bo Katan with maybe a cameo or two from Mando and Baby Yoda.

Just bad overall what they have done to a franchise for which they paid $4 Billion.

He's got a point. Let's face it, much of what the mandalorian did could've been done if it was about Boba fett as opposed to a brand new mandalorian. So much so that when they decided to give Boba his own show, they had to make him a crime boss as opposed to the bounty hunter he's always known as.

But also taking into account how he showed up in the book of Boba fett and made into a badass with his own dedicated episode out of nowhere, yeah, I can see his frustration with the series.

Could've made him a badass. A Dredd like character but they made him a bitch in a terrible show.

I liked the book of boba Fett, it established him as a not entirely good guy and not entirely bad guy. Although I wasn’t a fan of them giving to episodes to Mando. They could’ve included Mando in the finale but we didn’t need to see him get two episodes with Grogu and Luke. They should’ve just included that part in the first episode of season 3.
I didn’t mind Boba not showing up in season 3 of Mando because the story didn’t seem to need him. I do hope we can get some Boba and Mando action in season 4 or the next season of Book of Fett.

The stuff with the sand people was great. The diamo of Tatooine shit didn’t quite land the way it should have tho. Still a decent show, and but Mando, in particular Grogu, taking over the show was criminal.

I definitely agree Mando stole his show. Those two episodes should've just been part of The Mandalorian S3 and TBOBF could've been six episodes instead.

As for Fett not showing up in S3, I don't think he had to. There wasn't really a place he was needed, although he could maybe have dropped some clone info here and there.

Yeah those episodes should have basically been the first episode of Mando Season 3 instead, but at the same time they were also the best episodes of Book of Boba Fett so if they hadn't been included then the entire series would've been even more of a letdown (I didn't dislike it as much as a lot of people seem to but it was pretty underwhelming)

To be totally Honest Boba Fett should be the Mandalorian. After escaping the Sarlacc he goes back to bounty hunting and finds Grogu. That would be a nice way of recovering him and giving him some real purpose and range.

Now they just don't know what to do with the character. The cool storylines are taken, sir.
