THE BOOK OF BOBA FETT Season 2 Looks Promising As THE MANDALORIAN Season 4 Update Is Revealed

A new report suggests The Book of Boba Fett season 2 may indeed be in the works, while we also have news on when cameras are expected to begin rolling on The Mandalorian season 4. Read on for details...

Yesterday, Jon Favreau confirmed that he's already written the entirety of The Mandalorian's fourth season. Making Star Wars (via SFFGazette.com) has since added to that by revealing filming is expected to begin this October, while they've also received some interesting intel from California's Manhattan Beach Studios.

Apparently, Moff Gideon's new Mandalorian armour, Stormtroopers that report specifically to the villain, and an updated jetpack for Din Djarin have all been made or are in the process of being created for season 4.

Here's where things get really interesting, though.

The site adds that The Book of Boba Fett season 2 may also be in pre-production as work is currently underway on building Slave-1's (sorry, the Firespray Gunship) cockpit and the former bounty hunter's armour. The site points out that this could be for The Mandalorian season 4, but it seems more likely that production on both shows will run simultaneously.

As for why all this preparation is already taking place, it's likely tied to the possible Writers Guild of America strike. That may well last most of the summer, so once the situation is inevitably resolved, it means The Mandalorian (and hopefully The Book of Boba Fett) will be ready to go in the Fall.

When it comes to how long it will be until we see the shows back on Disney+, we'd bet on late 2024/early 2025.

The journeys of the Mandalorian through the Star Wars Galaxy continue in season 3. Once a lone bounty hunter, Din Djarin has reunited with Grogu. Meanwhile, the New Republic struggles to lead the Galaxy away from its dark history. The Mandalorian will cross paths with old allies and make new enemies as he and Grogu continue their journey together.

The series stars Pedro Pascal, Katee Sackhoff, Carl Weathers, Amy Sedaris, Emily Swallow and Giancarlo Esposito.

The Mandalorian season 3 premieres on March 1.

If they are gonna make a second season just don't have Din Djarin and Grogu come in and steal the show, don't have Bacta Tank flashbacks in multiple episodes and have less of Tatooine.

@tb86 - Mando was the only good part of this show. Everything with Boba was terrible.

@mountainman -

Thank god, Mando showed up. 😂

They destroyed any mystique Boba had left with that show. Boba's character was a complete bumbling dud of a "crime lord." If a 10ft tall Wookie can sneak into your stronghold unnoticed you're just not doing it right.

Also no more Robert Rodriguez.

@Humperdink -

Boba escaping the Sarlacc Pitt was about as poorly told as it possibly could have been.

All of the Tuskan Raider stuff was both boring and pointless.

Boba was the worst crime lord in the history of crime lords.

Fennec Shand (while an interesting character) made all the big decisions and overshadowed Boba in his own show.

The Bacta Tank stuff was pointless and dumb.

The dude that assisted the mayor was also one of the cringiest Star Wars characters of all time. The chase scene where he was trying to get away from Boba and the Power Rangers bikers was absolutely laughable.

The finale was completely ridiculous in how over the top and cartoonish it was.

I found Boba's small part in Mando season 2 to be fine, but this show completely ruined the character and I want nothing to do with any more of him.

@mountainman - *Ahem* "Boba was the worst crime lord in the history of crime lords"? Yeah, I'm going to have to go ahead and disagree with you on that. You see, I recently stole a bunch of Capuchin monkeys from the Dallas Zoo (yeah, that was me) and trained them to break into the houses in my neighborhood to steal jewelry and other valuable objects. Unfortunately, all I ended up with were a bunch of pipe cleaners, some rubber bands, half of a box of Q-Tips, and a used finger splint. Oh, and a Blackberry.

So pretty much all useless stuff unless you're a pipe smoking guy from 1996 with dirty ears and a rubber band ball in-progress And I finished my rubber band ball months ago. So, I'll go ahead and take the mantle of "The worst crime lord in the history of crime lords", along with "Worst monkey trainer" and "Worst rubber band ball maker", but DAMN if I don't know how to smoke a good pipe while texting peeps on my Blackberry.

@StSteven - Correction. Boba was the 2nd worst crime lord ever. Thanks for the help.

@mountainman - Well, hell, I figure if you can't be the best you might as well be the worst. As my lord and savior St. Ricky Bobby said "If you ain't first, you're last!". Words to live by.

Now, if you'll pardon me, I have a lot of work to NOT do to be "worst dad", "worst husband", "worst son", "worst bother", "worst uncle", "worst neighbor", and "worst sponsor for someone coming off of a monkey porn addiction" (don't ask about that last one - trust me).

@mountainman - I think the Fennic Shand is debateable. I feel like that character only seems more prominent, because she's almost entirely carried by Ming Na Wen's natural charisma.

@Humperdink - Seeing this GIF gave me PTSD. Damn this show was such a bore. The writing specially in the last episode was one of the worst I've ever seen.

@dagenspear - While I have nothing against her, Ming Na Wen is about as wooden an actress as I can recall. Fennec Shand is exactly the same character as Agent May in Agents of Shield. I find her completely devoid of any natural charisma.

@Tasmaniac - I'd disagree. Acting wise, I think she can have an engaging performance, even if it's not necessarily an emotional one.

Might as well throw Grogu in every ep. We know you can't help yourself Kathy

I hope that the worst characters in the history of Star Wars come back. Power Ranger Biker Gang season 2!

@mountainman - And yes, they were worse than both Jar Jar Binks and Chewbacca's family from the Christmas special. By far.

@grif - Tbh no way I'm watching SW series. Since I didn't like Rogue One I didn't watch Andor as well, though people are praising it. Perhaps one of these days.

@Fogs - same here. not watching mando season 3 either. rouge one is overrated. lots of great action at the end. thats all it has. when the characters died at the end i did not care.
Fogs
Fogs - 2/23/2023, 9:50 AM
@grif - My point exactly. Name 3 MAIN characters from that film. Nobody can, lol. I remember being like an alien, commenting "eeeeh" while many were nutting over it.

Pretty looking film but then again almost all are nowadays.

Gotta say that I agree with Rich Evans: "Star Wars is creatively bankrupt. It's all about battling soldiers in white and laser swords".

Screw the Book of Boba, I want the Journal of Jango Fett. Cast the guy who played young Boba in Episode 2, he's probably the perfect age for a young, pre-Kamino Jango. THEN maybe we'll get our ruthless bounty hunter series.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 2/22/2023, 9:24 PM
@EarlChai - I don't remember them having a young Boba in episode 2.
Origame
Origame - 2/22/2023, 9:28 PM
@dagenspear - he was that kid hanging around Jango in episode 2. It's explained that part of the deal with dooku was to have a clone that aged normally, so he could raise it as a son. That clone was Boba fett. And when Jango died at the end, Boba holds his helmet, foreshadowing him becoming the bounty hunter from the ot.
dagenspear
dagenspear - 2/22/2023, 9:33 PM
@Origame - Ah. I assumed the person was referring to an older Jango. I don't see a kid being needed for that type of story.

@dagenspear - Daniel Logan played Boba in Attack of the Clones when he was 13 years old. He’s now 35.
