VENOM 2 Set Video Show Cletus Kasady Enjoying Himself As A Free Man; More Filming Details Revealed

A new video from the set of Venom 2 shows Cletus Kasady seemingly enjoying his newfound freedom, while we also have intel which points to a battle in a familiar comic book location. Check it out...

Shooting on Venom 2 has moved from the UK to San Francisco, and that means we're getting to see photos and videos of the cast in action. That includes the newly revealed footage below which shows Woody Harrelson's Cletus Kasady speeding off in his sports car, and clearly enjoying his freedom.

The signs are definitely pointing to Harrelson's take on the villain being a unique one, and wit this video comes more details about what's been happening on set this past week.

While it was previously reported that Carnage was tearing apart Eddie Brock's car, it's since been confirmed that the Symbiote was destroying the Lethal Protector's motorbike (which makes a lot more sense seeing as that was Eddie's primary means of transport when we last saw him).

Shooting has also been taking place at a cathedral which bears a striking resemblance to the one Eddie first got his "other" in, and it certainly looks like a fitting location for a "final" battle between Venom and Carnage. Alas, something tells us Peter Parker probably won't stumble into that building and get his hands on his own Symbiote (it would be pretty cool to see, though).

Check out the video and photo below:

and unanswered questions, hit the "Next" button below!

Why Isn't Eddie Brock In Prison?

Eddie Brock quite visibly destroyed public property during that motorbike chase and was spotted by members of the public eating a man's head and later attacking an entire Swat team. So, with CCTV everywhere these days, how did he not end up being arrested? Sure, the Life Foundation was in the wrong but Eddie is a killer and there should be consequences for his actions. That's never addressed.

Now, some of you might argue that no one will have recognised Eddie but seeing as some random barfly realises who he is, that's highly unlikely and this is a massive plothole which can only be explained by lazy writing. Just think how cool it would have been if he'd ended up in the same cell block as Cletus Kasady only for the Symbiote to break him out and for Carnage to then be created?

What Did Riot Need Venom For?

In a perfect example of forced conflict, Riot tells Carlton Drake that he needs to take Venom back to that asteroid with him. However, if the Symbiote is planning to return to Earth with his fellow aliens, why not just wait and take Venom down upon their return? In fact, why does Riot then board the spaceship after "killing" Eddie Brock, thereby leaving Venom free to bond with another host or die?

Venom was just a loser on his home planet so he can't have been particularly important to Riot's plans and both that and Venom wanting to stop Riot so he can be the only Symbiote on Earth feels weak.

How Does Venom Resurrect Eddie Brock?

The Symbiote makes it clear that while he can repair pretty much any injury Eddie Brock sustains, he's not able to bring someone back from death. Despite that, after Eddie is quite brutally murdered by Riot, Venom is able to return his host to the land of the living and no explanation for how that takes place is ever provided here. Was there still just a little bit of life left within the wimpy journalist?

That certainly seems like the most likely explanations but those wounds looked absolutely deadly.

How Was Riot Planning On Finding That Asteroid?

We never get much of an explanation for how the Life Foundation came across that asteroid full of Symbiotes, how they managed to just steal a few, or how far from Earth it was supposed to be.

So, with that in mind, how did Riot intend on flying a spaceship out into the unknown to find his people? For that matter, when did Carlton Drake find time to learn how to operate that by himself and how would they have kept thousands of Symbiotes alive on the way back to Earth? It makes zero sense.

How Did Venom Survive That Final Battle?

Not only does Venom appear to be surprisingly impervious to fire during that final battle but the Symbiote quite clearly appears to die by the time he's managed to stop Riot from enacting his poorly thought out plan. Despite that, Venom is somehow back within Eddie by the time he meets up with Ann Weying with no sort of explanation for how he survived after bidding a sad farewell to his host.

Perhaps he just retreated within Eddie to avoid those flames but your guess is as good as ours!

Where Did Cletus Kasady Get That Blood From?

When Eddie Brock meets up with the insane Cletus Kasady to interview him, he's scrawled "Welcome Eddie" in blood across the side of the cage he's being kept in. That's despite the fact he's wearing a straightjacket and isn't visibly bleeding anywhere on his body. So, with all of that in mind, where did the blood come from to write this message? I guess those working on the movie thought it looked cool.

What Happened To The Yellow Symbiote?

Throughout the course of this movie, we see Riot journey across the world, Venom bond with Eddie Brock, and the blue coloured Symbiote died after it failed to bond with Dr. Dora. However, we never learn the fate of the yellow one which was quite clear also brought back to Earth. Did that also die or has it somehow escaped and ended up bonding with someone in secret? That is actually possible.

After all, in the comics, the yellow symbiote goes on to be the popular Scream so Sony could be leaving the door open to that villain being introduced somewhere down the line. Perhaps she'll even end up teaming up with Carnage in place of Shriek from the "Maximum Carnage" story arc? We'll see, I guess.

Since When Is Ann Weying A Scientist?

It's always great to see strong female characters in these superhero movies but not when it doesn't exactly make sense. Despite being a lawyer, Ann Weying somehow knows the exact right place to head to in the Life Foundation to create enough noise to take down Riot...she even manages to rig the system to play through loudspeakers so since when was she a tech expert/expert scientist?

While it's not beyond the realm of possibility that she's simply a smart person who managed to figure it out, the fact she was able to master equipment like this in a matter of minutes is hard to believe.

How Does Riot Find So Many Suitable Hosts?

Carlton Drake tries to get host after host to bond with the Symbiotes with zero luck but Riot miraculously manages to find a series of perfect hosts during his trip from Malaysia, all of whom seem to be perfectly fine after he moves on from them. It's never explained how this happens or how the Life Foundation CEO just so happens to also be a match for Riot; again, this is pretty storytelling.

Was Mrs. Chen Really Okay With Venom Killing That Guy?

Mrs. Chen seems like a nice woman and while she no doubt hated the thug who came to her store to demand "protection" money, was she really okay with Eddie Brock transforming into a black, hulking monster to eat his brains? She doesn't seem at all bothered about there being a decapitated man bleeding all over the floor and I would love to know how she ended up explaining that to the cops.

Why Do The Symbiotes Look Like Monsters?

In the comics, it's been established that the Symbiotes look pretty horrific even without their hosts and their teeth are actually already part of them. However, in Venom, they just look like goo which doesn't explain how they communicate with each other on their home planet or why when they bond with humans like Eddie Brock and Carlton Drake, they end up taking on such a monstrous appearance.

Ultimately, this is a rather minor nitpick but it's still something which could have been addressed or at least referenced. Personally, I would have liked to see the Symbiotes given a more humanoid shape while they're not bonded to anyone because they'd have looked a whole lot menacing, that's for sure.

What Sort Of Response Is "Aches And Pains" Anyway?

Perhaps one of the funniest reviews for Venom pointed out that the movie will probably achieve such cult status for being so damn weird that in twenty years time, a theater full of people will shout "Aches and Pains, Aches and Pains" along with Eddie Brock when Mrs. Chen asks him how he's getting on.

Seriously, though, what were they thinking when they wrote that line? Regardless of whether it was in the script or some pretty terrible improv by Tom Hardy, it's just a really peculiar and odd moment.

Did They Really Pronounce "Symbiote" Wrong The Entire Time?

In the first trailer for Venom, the word Symbiote was pronounced totally the wrong way and the internet wasted no time in ridiculing the fact the movie couldn't even get something as simple as that right. Honestly, it sounded like the way Avi Arad probably says it but by the time this movie hit theaters, it had been changed either via reshoots or with some ADR in order to ensure it sounded right.

That leaves us to wonder...did Sony really shoot this entire movie with everyone saying it the wrong way? Did they actually have to spend money to correct a mistake pointed out by people online?!

Why Were The Symbiotes On An Asteroid?

In the comic books, the Symbiotes have a home planet: Klyntar. Those involved with the movie have said that the opening sequence very nearly took place there so why were the aliens on an asteroid hurtling through space? Because they were hoping to find hosts to bond with? How did they think that would happen when the asteroid crashing toward any planet would have burned up on impact?

How did the aliens even launch themselves into space and onto said asteroid? This makes zero sense.

What Are Venom's Powers Anyway?

With Spider-Man nowhere to be found in Venom, the Symbiotes powers are entirely its own but what are those supposed to be anyway? The Symbiote is able to sense that some bad guys are about to knock on Eddie Brock's door but not that car which hit their motorbike at the end of that chase!

He also seems unable to stick to walls and instead uses brute force to climb objects, while swinging around appears to have been replaced by just jumping. Venom's powers are never clearly defined in the movie and he's basically just a weaker Hulk with some tendrils based on what we see here.

Hope this one is good. First one wasn't bad ....too whacky and comedic at times. The script was awful! Hopefully Andy Serkis is a dark horse .

With filming still occurring and with the VFX still needing to be done, it makes me wonder if the film is going to be ready in time for October.
