VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Takes In Massive $11.6M From Thursday Night Preview Screenings

The first Venom movie proved to be a surprise box office success when it was released in 2018, and it looks like the sequel, Let There Be Carnage, may be poised to follow suit after an $11M domestic haul.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage is now playing in several locations, and the movie has already taken in over $10 million from Thursday night preview screenings alone.

The Sony Pictures sequel grossed $11.6 million yesterday after screening from 4 p.m. local time in 3,700 locations. This gives it the second biggest debut of the pandemic era (behind only Black Widow), and puts it on track to for a $67M-$72M 3-day opening in the US.

The first movie proved to be a surprise hit at the box office (it took in close to $850 million worldwide) despite a negative critical reaction, and it looks like Let There Be Carnage is now on track to repeat that success. The sequel did initially receive a more positive reception than its predecessor, but has since slipped down to "Rotten" status on Rotten Tomatoes, where it now sits at 59%.

As the title suggests, Venom 2 will see the psychotic symbiote (Tom Hardy) go fang-to-fang with his arch-nemesis from the comics, Carnage (Woody Harrelson). Michelle Williams and Reid Scott are set to reprise their roles from Venom, and they'll be Joined by Naomie Harris as the villainous Shriek, and Stephen Graham as Detective Patrick Mulligan. Sean Delaney, Laurence Spellman, and Larry Olubamiwo are also on board in undisclosed roles.

Tell us, do you plan on seeing Venom: Let There Be Carnage on the big screen this weekend?

Once you know the post credit scene it’s not worth paying to see the whole film. That scene is the most interesting part of all of this. It’s leaked obviously so…yea

@BlackBeltJones - Its a terrifying tbh. At least the first two movies arent MCU canon so Sony doesnt have a say in the MCU for the time.

This is a win.

People are heading back to theaters and CBMs still rule the box office!
