VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE Trailer Confirmed To Include Another Fan-Favorite Symbiote Host

Today's Venom: Let There Be Carnage trailer included plenty of big reveals for us to explore, and it's now been confirmed that the sequel will introduce another symbiote host to Sony's Marvel Universe!

Venom: Let There Be Carnage looks like it should be a fun ride, and with Venom, Carnage, and Shriek all in the same film, you'd best believe that things are going to get pretty crazy. Now, it's come to light that Sony Pictures may be looking to add yet another symbiote from the comics to the mix in the sequel.

In today's trailer, we saw that Stephen Graham (Boardwalk Empire) plays a cop in the film, and IGN has since confirmed with Sony Pictures that the actor is playing Detective Peter Mulligan.

If the name rings a bell, it's because he's better known as Toxin. That symbiote is Carnage's offspring, and Cletus Kasady planned to kill him in order to stop his "son" from usurping him. Venom, meanwhile, hoped to turn his "grandson" into an ally and fellow Lethal Protector, and Mulligan ended up being inadvertently bonded with Carnage after being in the wrong place at the wrong time.

Toxin would ultimately leave the police force and his family behind, and it's feasible that this origin story is set to play out in Venom: Let There Be Carnage as well.

It's likely Sony Pictures is looking to keep a Toxin reveal under wraps, and that symbiote joining Venom during the final battle to help put Carnage down is a possibility. However, there's nothing to say this is going to play out, and Mulligan's appearance could be a simple Easter Egg.

Soooo Carnage is gonna try to make another symbiote baddie but Toxin ends up good cuz he's a cop and helps Venom take down Carnage?

Definitely a SONY film.

@SKetCH - I want Knull nowhere near the hands of Sony. They would destroy his origin.

I was underwhelmed by the first Venom but the inclusion of Carnage and Andy Serkis as director had me a little intrigued. The trailer did nothing for me. The flat comedy in the beginning and end didn't mesh well with the Cletus Kassady stuff in the middle.

I liked the idea of Toxin in his first appearance, but he ended up being sort of "the most boring symbiote". Maybe that changed in the later comics I didn't read, but...

...oh damn, I just remembered that they already used the Life Foundation Symbiotes (who were also pretty boring, but you could at least try to make them interesting). So, I guess this makes sense.

I don't hate this franchise, but it is clear to me that Venom works better as a secondary character. It doesn't have to be in a Spider-Man franchise (I think you could substitute Spider-Woman or even Nightwatch or someone as the main hero). Symbiotes are cool except when every fight is symbiote vs. symbiote.

Stephan Graham has got to be one of the most underrated actors going, can't wait to see him go up against the peaky blinders.

Mulligan must have arrested Cletus Kasady. So, he goes to the execution of Cletus, Cletus escapes and Mulligan joins a remnant of the symbiote. He pacts with the symbiote (Carnage's son). The symbiote helps Mulligan and Mulligan submits to the Symbiote's power without him resisting.
