Activision has officially announced the upcoming Call of Duty title for this year. Confirming earlier speculations, the next addition to the long-running blockbuster shooter franchise will once again be within the Modern Warfare series. Revealed through a teaser trailer, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare III will release this November.
Activision first began its reboot of the beloved Modern Warfare series in 2019. They released Modern Warfare II, a remake of the 2009 blockbuster, last year. And now, they will conclude the trilogy with a remake of the 2011 game.
While the teaser trailer didn't reveal too much, it did seemingly suggests that Graves has survived the events of Modern Warfare II. "Never bury your enemies alive," we hear him say.
No synopsis was shared with the only accompanying text stating: "The ultimate threat awaits."
A more proper reveal, possibly showcasing the single-player story campaign as well as multiplayer gameplay, will likely come soon. Activision is said to be hosting a special Modern Warfare III limited-time event in Call of Duty: Warzone, the battle royale spin-off.
"Drop into Call of Duty: Warzone to experience the worldwide reveal for Call of Duty 2023 in a limited-time event," reads a note on the blog. "Join the ranks of Shadow Company to take on Konni forces and secure the chemical weapon threat before it’s too late."
The event is said to be taking place on August 17, so we will perhaps learn more about this year's Call of Duty game around then. The November 10th date confirms previously reported rumors which also reveal possible beta weekends for Modern Warfare III. The first beta weekend is believed to run from October 6-10 for PlayStation, followed by a second beta weekend from October 12-16 on all platforms. Campaign early access is expected to open up a week ahead of the official launch on November 2, 2023.
Platforms were not announced, but we can probably assume Modern Warfare III will be released on Xbox and PlayStation platforms as well as on PC.
