Les Wisman ,director of Underworld, is wanting out of the director's chair for the Gears of War movie. It is unknown at this time of why he is dropping the project but speculation is it's due to big budget cuts.
The movie is based on the Xbox 360 hit video game about a group of soldiers who are trying to fight off the Locust horde and save what little mankind has left. It was planning on being an epic origin story but the cut backs are turning it into more of a generic action/horror invasion flick acording to reports.
So now the question becomes can New Line,developers of the Gears of War movie, find someone to fill the directors chair? Or better yet, with the budget cuts do we even want them to?
I'm all for a big epic Gears movie but I dont want to see some watered down low cost version. We have had enough bad video game/comic book movies already.
