The first episode of Halo premieres on Paramount + tomorrow, March 24, and we have an exclusive clip from the series to share with you. Based on the hit video game franchise of the same name, the show puts its own spin on Master Chief's (Pablo Schreiber) story and takes place in the midst of a 26th-century war between the United Nations Space Command and the alien Covenant.

It's no secret that Halo will unmask Master Chief so we can finally learn more about the man beneath the iconic helmet, but plenty of characters from the games will also be featured.

Among them are Dr. Miranda Keyes (Olive Gray) and her mother, Dr. Catherine Halsey (Natascha McElhone). In this sneak peek, Miranda discusses her career in the United Nations Space Command (UNSC) with her father, Captain Jacob Keyes (Danny Sapani), and how she feels about being held back by her mom. Clearly, the two women have a less-than warm relationship.

We won't talk too much about how things play out in the Halo video games here for fear of spoilers, but this clip hints at Miranda and Elizabeth having a similarly intriguing dynamic in this small screen adaptation. Knowing what might lie ahead makes this a subplot we'll be keeping a close eye on, and both characters are likely to be pivotal to how Master Chief's story plays out in the show.

Watch the clip below and tune into Halo on Paramount+ when it premieres tomorrow. From there, additional episodes will follow every Thursday, while a second season has already been confirmed.

Yeah, I've lost all faith in this.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - As a series I couldn't see the 'let's not show his face' working without continously drawing comparisons to The Mandalorian. As a movie though if we were going to get the Blomkammp version it may have worked. I'll give it a watch regardless as it's the only video game I play constantly.
Let's hope the season does good enough for a stronger effort with S2. S1 does look cheaper than I expected though.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - is that Master Chief?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - so right off Master Chief is seen without his helmet?

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - No, tell me that's not real. That's Spartan 117??

Nope, I'm done. This just feels...wrong.

Conquistador - 3/23/2022, 2:25 PM
@Super12 - I understand that argument, but hear me out...For the games it works that you never see his face to help better immerse the player, to not feel like their playing as someone else, though they are. Personally I'm more in favour of the approach in the Mass effect series though.

But for live action story telling especially in a series it creates alot more problems if the audience is suppose to invest in the character.. especially if he's the lead.

It works in the Mandalorian as we have the pre established star wars stuff going on the background, but Halo is quite new to this medium and doesn't have the same kind of audience for non interactive story telling.

I'm cautiously optimistic and hope they really don't F it up and have us wait another 10 years to start again.

@UniqNo - And yet...there's still somehow a massive following of this faceless dude going 20 years strong now.

I hear you, and yes obviously its way more of a challenge for story-telling. But I think it's just lazy of them to do it this way. Not only is it a trademark of the IP but you already have established precedents you can follow (Dredd/Mando). The road's been cleared for them but instead of embracing what's unique about the IP they're taking the easy road.

Lame.

Conquistador - 3/23/2022, 2:59 PM
@Super12 - Like I said, the core following for him as a lead has been the interactive side of things. If we got the movie it may have worked.

I explained why Mando works.

Dredd, I'm glad you Brought up.. the Urban version worked as a film, though I doubt it would work in long form story telling..
I'm happy we're getting Halo the series instead of the movie though, though thr budget does look cheap.. I think they should have saved the face reveal until maybe season 2 though.

I'll give it a shot.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 - I’m guessing the show runners and writers didn’t play the games or watched any walkthroughs.

@THEDARKKNIGHT1939 -
"If I went to a movie called Judge Dredd and the lead actor at one point took of his helmet so we could see his full face I would just puke in my popcorn"

/Karl Urban about playing Judge Dredd in a movie and never removing the helmet.

This isnt Master Chief, this.. is a dude.

Oh I had no Idea Keyes was in this. Is Captain Keyes in this too? Its one of those things where unlike other Video Game to TV/Film franchises, I think this would work better trying to fit into the boundaries of the games, but I can tell that they're going do their own thing. Which is cool, but I'd rather the show fit with the games

@dagenspear - it's definitely not racist to confuse a man who looks exactly like another character with that character, instead of the character he is playing which he looks nothing like.

So I read somewhere that the writers were bragging about not being limited by the game lore by just never playing or even talking about the game! What the [frick] does that even mean? Lmao😂

Imagine if Kevin Feige goes like this: "Yeah we make Marvel movies... what do you mean 'read the comics'? We don't do that shit here! What the hell is a comics anyway?

A show based off a video game made by people who refuse to play or research the actual game?

Is this out yet? Lol. Guess shows the hype for it. Maybe between this, Wheel of Time, and Rings of Power creators will learn maybe they should try adapting the source instead of thinking they can improve and overhaul it. At least then they won’t piss off the fans.

Edit: I’m still hoping Rings of Power isn’t terrible but given what they did to wheel of time, the trailer, and the changes we already know about- I’m going to go ahead and assume.

Zer0squad - 3/23/2022, 4:04 PM
@MrDandy - Yeah, what these assholes need to learn is that just because they go out and get a big, established IP, it doesn't necessarily mean their shit will have a built in fanbase. What it actually means is that their shit will have a ton of built in critics they need to please if they want to have a shot at success.

If you're gonna race change, why not have a more rounded out racial cast? We already have Johnson, whose black. Why not have Keyes be spanish or asian or indian or native american or middle eastern or whatever?
